Hello Patrons
In one of my earlier posts this year I mentioned that I'd like to enhance and refurbish my character models which I've been using for quite a while now.
I do this to make new things possible and fix some small errors which I had to "hide" before I could create poses with them.
Now I've been working in the past few weeks on a new version of Eivor since I got asked if it was possible to have him with short hair, I decided to add a new hairstyle for him. I have good news for you - now he got his short hair style which makes more variations possible for future images.

However things simply didn't stopped here...
Another approach for me was to get his Amour which he wears in the game during his journeys. We all can agree that nakie Eivor might be the best version of him but he needs some clothes too π
Starting with his 'default' Armour which was a total mess to begin with. Parts of the tunic were missing, Textures are not assigned and furthermore the rig was bloated with so many bones you couldn't even see the geometry:

Knowing already that this would be a pain in the butt I decided to give Blender's internal rigging tool a try since it has worked nicely once and created a custom rig - BUT this is where the journey ended with Blenders own solution.
It just didn't worked for this model no matter what I tried. So the aftermath? I used the game-rig and sorted out bones manually - 900+ bones were identified and deleted in that process which took more time than I want to admit spending on this π€ͺ
With this done I could FINALLY start to work on the model itself. Adding parts, fixing errors and of course adding Eivor because a floating set of clothes isn't something we'd like to see here. π

Still WIP but I'm glad I got him together in one piece. Now that his clothes are attached I plan to make this model highly customizable - For that I have created a small GIF below which gives you an idea of what will be possible once the model is finished.

You can strip him down completely - similar to the option in the game but even better π
At the time I'm typing this I'm still working on the model to finish the final tasks. Once everything is done I'll give him a proper "test" ... You'll see. π
Alright folks that is it for now. I hope you looking forward to this and upcoming projects which I will talk about more in future posts.
Have a nice day and stay healthy.
