Yup I agree it was very annoying that none of the other doctors seemingly ever asked that the guy was on board. I get that it was supposed to be that the rest of them are too emotionally invested in this or whatever, but it just makes them look stupid. My only guess that makes them not look insanely stupid is that maybe previously he acted like he was more on board for the girl's sake, but as it got closer to the time he was more anxious and was more willing to open up to Addison. Yeah you were right with the leasing thing. They had plans for it that they were not willing to give up on and even though leasing it out would solve their financial troubles, a lease would be a long term agreement due to it being a business premise which means that they'd be giving up.
