Tara ran because she realized they were going to kill her. That’s why they wouldn’t let Cindy go, she would try to stop them. If Tara had agreed to stay, they would have let her live but when she said she wanted to go back they made the pretense of taking her back to trick Cindy and was taking Tara out to the woods to kill her.
