Story Demo is below:
Lulu sat with her laptop, opening yet another job bank as her white vulpine tail swished impatiently behind her. “Truly, when it rains, it pours…” she said, she was a snow fox that was truly down on her luck. She was recently fired from her last job as a laundromat worker due to her co-worker playing a prank on her via adding superglue to the detergent she used, causing a good amount of the washers to break and nearly the entire building turning into a bubble bath. The superglue in the mixture trapping both of Lulu's paws in incredibly sturdy, slippery bubbles, rendering her unable to open the door and ending up with her pinned between all the bubbles, all their slippery surfaces rubbing her all over… her sensitive tail involuntarily swishing behind her, causing the overly sticky bubbles to stick to and rub her tail, bouncing all the other bubbles around the cramped space to stimulate her even more…
Lulu caught herself spacing out and shook her head to clear both her mind, and her momentary burst of arousal as she tucked her light blue hair behind her snowy, foxy ears. It was true she loved bubbles, it was the main reason the prank was pulled on her; but it caused her to lose her job, so she pushed the memory to the back of her brain and kept scrolling.
“Home Software… Floor-Mart… Applewasp's… Huh?” Lulu stopped scrolling as she opened a posting said to be made just a few hours prior, named as an assistant for “Max's Majestic Magic Show'', which showed a black wolf in a white tuxedo holding a cane as traditional magic items were edited to be floating around him, like playing cards, coins, the occasional bubble, and-
“W- Wait a minute, bubbles..?” She was curious, but now she was attentive. She scoured the pictures posted on the posting, most of them showing Max's stage, which was quite grandiose. She had heard of him from a few of her friends that had went to one of his shows, and none of them had any bad remarks about it.
“Well… I got nothing to lose, may as well apply.” Lulu said, attaching her resume and writing up a cover letter for possibly the twentieth time today. Breathing a sigh of relief, Lulu closed her laptop and trekked upstairs to her bedroom, tossing off the remainder of her clothes and tangling herself under the covers, hugging her tail to her quite sizable chest as she drifted off to dreamland.
She awoke to the sound of her alarm blaring in her face, telling her it was 9 in the morning. She groggily turned over and grabbed her phone as she used her tail fluff to cover her alarm clock, muffling it's noise until it finally shut up.
“Alright… how many postings rejected my application today…” Lulu's ears drooped as she saw several jobs with the word REJECTED in big red letters beside them, but one caught her eye…
The word APPROVED was in big, bold, delightfully green letters! She clicked on the tab, not bothering to check what it was from.
…until she found Max's smiling face as he held an oversized bubble wand in one hand and a fanned out deck of cards in the other, the posting read as follows:
Salut, Lulu!
I, Max, of Max's Majestic Magic Show, hereby accept an interview with you! You may call the number attached at any time the day of this reply, or up to two days after that!
I am looking forward to seeing what talents you can bring to the table for the Majestic Magic Show!
Yours Truly,
Max the Majestic
P.S. All that marvelous-esque talking is required to be put by my managers, but I really am quite looking forward to meeting you!
As Lulu read the reply, she felt herself smiling as she skimmed that last part, her tail almost clearing a shelf behind her as it involuntarily started swaying from Max's charismatic end point.
Lulu picked up the phone and started the call, and much to her surprise, Max himself picked up!
“Hello? Max here.”
“H- Hello Max, I'm Lulu, and I was wondering how to follow up with the posting? I noticed no secretaries picked up, d- did I call the wrong number..?” Lulu asked, nervously twisting in place.
“Oh Lulu, it's you! Yeah I changed my boring secretary's number with my personal one, I read your resume and cover letter and you seem quite down to earth and friendly. So I figured I'd cut the middleman and speak to you directly! All that aside though, I'd much rather talk face to face. So tomorrow at noon, how do you feel like having an interview behind my stage?” Max suggested.
“Oh! T- That's perfect! I'll be there..!” Lulu stated hastily, before wrapping up the call and calming her ever swaying tail behind her.
The day came and went without incident, Max sent her a message to just dress casual, the job itself would mostly be practicing for tricks, not outright performing them on stage, so he suggested just attending in street clothing to prevent an overly-uptight atmosphere.
The rest of the day came and went with little to no incident, just Lulu thinking about how the interview would go. Max seemed kind enough, and his casual tone paired with his warm, but sharp voice reassured her.
The day came and Lulu was standing outside of Max’s designated stage in her home city, she was informed to walk around the back and enter the blue door that led into the building, and when she did, she was met with magic objects strewn around the room in no particular order. Decks of cards half opened, large colorful balls, red curtains, curtain clippings, she even found some stray knives, though they did have covers over their blades, safety first after all.
“M- Max..?” Lulu called, she had worn a gray crop top paired with black, baggy track pants, her tail peeking out of a pocket made specially for tails of vulpine or canine species. Lulu straightened her top one last time before entering and closing the door behind her, weaving past curtains and cards to finally find Max in his velvet labyrinth sitting at a table, seemingly playing solitaire whilst waiting for Lulu to arrive.
“Ah! Lulu! Come take a seat, I brewed some tea for us! let me go grab it, get comfortable!” Max’s voice invited her into the warm room and dispelled whatever anxiety she had… For the most part…
Max returned with a tray of 2 cups and several kettles, setting it to the side as he took a seat across from Lulu. “I forgot to ask what you wanted, so I made a small kettle of each. I personally recommend chamomile or just plain herbal, they’ll help with your nerves!” Max said as he poured himself a cup. “My preference is orange pekoe.”
Lulu was taken aback a little, it felt more like visiting a friend than taking an interview. “I’ll just have some herbal then” Lulu said, taking a cup of herbal tea and holding it up to her face to let the warmth wash away the crisp autumn cold and revitalize her. Max smiled behind his own cup as he lifted it up to his lips, taking a small sip before setting it off to the side. “Now let’s begin.”
Max then stood up and beckoned Lulu to follow him. “I do these types of things a little differently compared to any other job you could get, we’ll be going to the stage and practicing some tricks together, there’s only so much a few questions can tell me about you after all. Are you comfortable in the air?” Max asked, looking back at Lulu.
“I- In the air..? I guess so, when I was a child I really liked going to my local trampoline park, I had pretty good balance too, though I’m not sure if I still do…” Lulu said. “Why are you asking? What kind of tricks are we gonna practice?”
“What kind? Surely you saw the bubbles on the page and in the interview letter, bubble tricks are always better with friends!” Max said, grabbing a large bubble wand and twirling it around in his hand as he turned around to Lulu as they appeared on the empty stage. Lulu’s face was bright red, her snow white fur not even able to hide it.
Max offered a solemn smile “I know that look, so that’s why you took the job offer.” He said as he extended a comforting hand to Lulu. “I’m the same way… I’m comfortable telling you that since you have the same thing, you know how sheltered it should be… though I must say I didn’t expect it to turn out this way…” Max said, a calm smile still on his face, even after admitting something so… dangerous…
“All the more reason to make you my partner! Now don’t keep me waiting!” Max said as Lulu returned his smile, extending her hand as Max performed a small maneuver to position Lulu at the edge of a large bubble. It wobbled in place almost hypnotically, the bubble plenty big enough to hold Lulu inside.
