There’s a resistance you’ve forgotten to have him train: Arcane Blight! Sure, hitting himself with his own Mystic’s Rend skill is really unlikely, but better to have it than not. It’s only a matter of time until he runs into someone who uses a similar Affliction, or even a skill that mirrors attacks back at the attacker! The Wardog had them train against friendly fire a while ago, but they’ve gained a new teammate and a ton of levels since then. Any other new afflictions or aspects should be added to Rapid Adaptation, once they meet up again (my brain is failing me, I can’t recall skill specifics for the team). P.S. I don’t recall the exact affinity of Arcane Blight, so if he already has it as a resistance, ignore me.

2025-08-14 19:06:25 +0000 UTCI realy like the ark as it is. I like the struggel, that Kartus has no idea how to progress. Yes, he is very very good and hard working but l like to read that. And that there is a Point were he has no idea how to do something. For me it makes him more human and less supermann Sorry for my bad englisch, i don't write often

2025-08-07 08:12:24 +0000 UTCThanks for the chapters, and good luck with the rewrite - I enjoyed it, but I still understand the need for one. If you’re gonna do a dump for RR, I suggest the first six to keep up momentum (the last six were more than riveting enough on their own imo), and to give an indication at the start how long the arc will take. I feel like many will want to read it all in one go, and if you’re not dumping the whole arc at once they’ll want to know when they can start!

2025-08-03 00:02:35 +0000 UTCKaius triggering a trap 100 times is uninteresting. Kaius intentionally triggering a trap 100 times because each time it triggers he catches a glimpse of a rune, and he’s trying to piece it together is interesting, because he’s breaking the game. “You absolute lunatic.” Similarly, him realizing he’s a wheel with no spokes is transformational maybe, but that realization that if his father knew what he would become, what he’d do to himself, how unbalanced it would be and his father might instead never have put a wooden sword in a child’s tiny hands… that seems a long dark day away. Better the line die out than I have done this to my own son. Or not. Discovering his father was a ruthless unfeeling bastard. That piece was setup for later payoff. Yea. Golden.

2025-08-03 00:00:52 +0000 UTCIt feels a bit unfair to agree with you that there are issues, but here: I skimmed most of it. I stopped near the end and read every word. Why? I think because the character was once more engaged. From a writing standpoint, is this sequence conflict or adversity? Adversity. Is most of it show or tell? Tell. Why is the endpoint dialogue interesting? Because we could learn something new. It could lead to some character development. It could reunite the main character with the other characters and their interactions would be interesting. It involves interaction between two interesting characters and we don’t want to miss it. Even the drinks are interesting, because they reflect her. If you wrote this from Porkchop’s perspective, him being given a glimpse into what Kaius was doing to himself or putting himself through, it would be interesting because of Porkchop’s response, because Porkchop might say something to Kaius about it later. Same with Xenara’s comment at the end of the z corpus trial. God-snark. In itself, the obstacle course is not memorable because the event creates no conflict or memory. It’s still very well written, but as you said, not efficient. It is not a god taunting Kaius. The course is a grindstone. For each Nth action, there is no reaction, no consequence, no foreshadowing, no utility, just the value of the thing itself, which leaven’s the bread and decorates the plate but does not make the meal, and if you pile up the garnish, a steak it does not make.
