this was another 2023 piece where I was still in the early stages of figuring my art style out. I remember really realising here what I was trying to accomplish in look. I do care about fidelity but I wanted a stylised, interpretative 2D feeling about my work that I only ever saw in some really good displays of art like Arcane and Spiderverse.

a big part of the secret is solid strokes btw. I was overall happy with this piece but I didn't end up posting it due to the news around the act...

this is from 2023 when I was still trying to figure my art style out - there are definitely some techniques that I've held on to and improved upon since but overall I remember thinking this piece was too busy. But I have more artwork like this to share that i haven't shared online

this was a batman piece i made a year ago that i ended up not posting because I wasn't satisfied with it. I was still figuring out my art style and hadn't progressed enough as an artist yet. I also eventually abandoned the textures I used to do for which I'm making a tutorial on!

(SCRAPPED) wolverine

this was a wider version of the piece i was painting - deadpool would be on the left. i painted a second close up of wolverine that i abandoned because I realised the canvas size did a disservice to the pieces id already painted - they would become too out of focus and the detail would be wasted

however, i really liked this painting i did although I didn't finish it - so expressive

i'm wondering what project I should focus on moving forward to make something really that you could engage with and I could also feel creatively fulfilled by making

i have thought a lot about storytelling and the structure of comic books.. it is becoming a thing i would like to work on but i would have to neglect my social media to do that.. so im thinking about how to do this

this was an alternate version of this piece I scrapped because the luminescent green competed with the red too much and hurt the harmony of the colours bw the two characters

i also felt sad about hiding the painting i did of barakapool which i was quite proud of

im really happy with the piece i ended up with - i try to practice thinking conceptually with each piece i work on and i feel satisfied particularly with this which might be my most detailed work

(ARTBOOK PAGE 10) wolverine

the chisel brush settings are a 0% - 100% flow with pressure sensitivity so I am far less reliant on the airbrush atm. atm the chisel brush is 85% of the brush i use after I establish a base with the rectangular brush. I really mostly use the rectangular brush when I want to establish big shapes or values on a lower or higher opacity.
