With this one, once I got to shading, something didn't feel right at all:

My mistake was starting out too dark, and too big of a brush.
Eventually I also saw that the legs and butt didn't work out, I was trying at such a weird angle, that things weren't coming into place correctly. I just opted to have him stand instead.
It looks like I'll still need lots of studying.
