Details for episodes 14 and 15 -------------------------------- March’s side story The first half of episode 14 is based on a gaiden chapter called “The mermaid left behind”. It isn’t part of the main manga, but is a oneshot side story. There are three other gaiden chapters, and so far it seems like the anime is going to adapt them all so you won’t have to go looking for missed side content. -------------------------------- Possible mistranslation/ambiguous wording 2:04 March actually beat Oguri twice in real life, though the second one was not shown in the anime or manga. In Japanese the line doesn’t make mention of how many times it happened, so the translator probably just assumed it was once because only one loss is shown in the story. However, Oguri’s two losses are mentioned when she transfers, so the second loss does seem to be canon. -------------------------------- Side story timeline placement The Gifu Okan Sho took place in July 10th, 1988, so it is a bit under a month after the Takarazuka Kinen that Tama won. -------------------------------- Yamano Thousand’s real name Yamano Thousand is most likely based on Fujino Northern. -------------------------------- Nase Fumino As you probably guessed, Nase is based on Take Yutaka. Nase is just Take with the Hiragana shifted one character over, and the kanji for Fumino and Yutaka can both be read as Bunno when used in a name. A lot of the personal details are also shared, such as their fathers being notable in the same field and both being young prodigies. -------------------------------- Take and Fine Motion 40:57 Funnily enough, this is actually true. Take was Fine Motion’s main jockey. -------------------------------- Super Creek’s growth 41:43 Creek was given the name Super Creek in the hopes that he would grow from a small creek into a great river. I don’t know if he was actually physically small in his youth or not though. -------------------------------- Toni Bianca 43:23 Toni Bianca’s real name is Tony Bin. More about her will be revealed eventually so I won’t list things like race record here. Tony Bin was the father of Jungle Pocket, Air Groove, Royce and Royce, Winning Ticket, North Flight, and Sakura Chitose O, in addition to being the grandfather to multiple other notable Umas. He was a pretty significant sire in Japan, being ranked number 1 in 1994 and never placing below number 3 from 1993-2002. -------------------------------- International Horses In the manga, all of the international horses usually speak their own native languages. When they speak Japanese, it is safe to assume that they are speaking in their own languages unless it is made clear that they are speaking Japanese. The exception is the mystery Uma at the end, who spoke in a combination of English and Japanese in the manga version of the end credits scene.
