His mother also died from intestinal torsion due to a lack of care after being transferred around, leading Nishikino to blame himself for her death. The full story has a lot of details and even inspired another manga, called Midori no Makibao. The main character is a small mule who races to get his mother back who was sold to pay for a debt. -------------------------- Tama’s size In real life, he was extremely small and said to almost look like a mare.
