2026-02-18 18:47:14 +0000 UTCRalph Fiennes is a standout as Dr. Ian Kelson. His performance is phenomenal, specifically the scene where he dances to Iron Maiden is THE highlight. Jack O’Connell is also utterly hateful but compelling of the cult leader Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. The film's tone is the most gruesome in the franchise. It's exceptionally brutal and a gross-funny chapter that balances gore with dark humor. Nia DaCosta's directing (she also directed the 2021 Candyman film) grounded the story while maintaining an unnerving atmosphere. While Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later felt like an art film, DaCosta’s sequel feels like a punky, anarchic return to form.
