Merman #8

There hadn't been a good closeup of the merman's face so I decided to draw one. With this character I've had fun exploring these contrasting qualitites. He's like a dignified king but also behaves like a wild animal. Yet he's not cruel towards humans out of any personal grudge; he simply views them as a lesser lifeform, for him to capture and use as he pleases.

And despite being a monster he's also beautiful! Along with the shiny scales on his tail I wanted to give his hair a sort of pearly/opalescent shimmer. Coloring it turned out to be way more difficult than I expected though. I love rendering hair, except when I don't....

Her third night of being held captive. Her body has grown more fishy again. It's also making her horny?

Originally I meant to go for a top-down angle for this one. I wasn't vibing with it after all and decided to scrap it. The final version was challenging to pull off but it was a learning experience, at least...

I needed an angle that would show off both her belly and crotch. I like how the color palette turned out! I'm really into giving her this warm bioluminescence during the night, when her body's full of merman jizz and absorbing it. Look forward to more of that weirdness later on haha
