I also hope it's possible to deduce Alpha's medication (seen in a previous episode) is what could contain this inhibitor/control factors.

That makes sense. I just musunderstood the scene where he has that mask on and they are doing scans and laser stuff talking about regeneration. I thought they were dealing with the issue then.
