To my patrons on MacOS Catalina
Added 2020-05-26 20:36:01 +0000 UTCHi guys,
I'm sure you all are aware of the issues we've had getting the latest version of PQ to work on Catalina. Although we found a way past the security barriers. The game would still crash on startup and an error log would report a miscommunication between the GPU (graphics card) and certain game files. Yesterday I thought that might be due to changes in the GPU driver, but I was only partly right on that.
The problem is that Apple no longer supports 32-bit applications with Catalina. Although Mojave also was a 64-bit OS, it would still allow 32-bit applications to run. This support has been removed with Catalina. The game engine for PQ (Rpg Maker MV) is a 32-bit application, and any games deployed from it will naturally also be based on the 32-bit instruction set. Since it's a fairly old game engine, I highly doubt RPG Maker MV will be released in a 64-bit version anytime soon. And even if that ever happens, I don't think I can simply load the project in the new engine and expect it to work.
I therefore regret to announce that I can no longer support MacOS for PQ from now on. I hate to do this, as a Windows Phone fan (yes, I was one of those. And I still believe it was the best phone OS on the marked, if you didn't take app support into account) I know all about the pain of not being able to run an app on your preferred platform. But I'm out of options.
What I can do is the following:
1. Provide a Parallels version of the game.
For those who run Parallels on their Mac, you can download this version of PQ:

You can find further information on Parallels, and how to set it up, in this article: https://uk.pcmag.com/news-analysis/123012/how-to-run-32-bit-apps-in-macos-catalina
2. Provide a browser version of the game.
The latest version of PQ can be played via your web browser from https://www.tinkerer-games.com/

I know this is not an ideal solution, but unless someone comes up with a better idea, it's the best I can do.

I also loved my windows phone. Everything about it was great. The only issue was 0 apps. Android I feel is kind of a close replacement.

2020-05-28 18:36:53 +0000 UTCI can provide a version for Mojave, but you'll need to remind me, otherwise I'll assume everyone has moved on.

2020-05-27 09:17:05 +0000 UTCDoes the fact that this is addressed to Catalina users mean you will continue to supply a Mac version for those of us who will not upgrade to Catalina because of the amount of 32-bit software we'd lose? If not, would you be willing to work with your Mac patrons to provide a Wine-compatible version?

2020-05-26 22:02:45 +0000 UTCumm noob question, but how do I play through the web? can't find anything on the page to start a game

2020-05-26 21:36:25 +0000 UTCThanks for all the support Tinkerer. I am sad that it had to ultimately turn out this way, but it's still great to know that you tried your best to find a solution for those people that use MAC (myself included). Big ups to you and I will still support you and this game. Actually give me another reason to get a gaming laptop this real. Cheers to you for all the efforts! 😁👍
