Most of the Exi clan lives underground, it's been like that since they made their first shelters, probably due their nature and also for protection against early predators.
As in most sci-fi underground settings, they're capable to project an image of the sky over the ceilings, so, even underground they have light during the day and see the clouds etc, there. Projection even provides sun-radiation to keep the health of the citizens.
This doesn't mean there aren't buildings over the land, but they're less than the underground ones.
There's still a small population over the ground keeping things in order, some even prefer to live over the ground (probably richest of their population and other non-rodent-like clan members)
most of the clan automatic defenses are also placed in hidden spots around the --underground access.

making this bit was interesting as it forced me to think a little more the way their city looks.
I tried to make sort of a organic-shaped architecture, keep rounded corners and details.
it's probable that the First clan architecture look similar in some aspects.
