I watched this stinker without sound, while I flew back from a 2 year extended business trip in Tokyo. It wasn’t on my screen, but on the screens all over the jet, at different parts of the movie… as I nodded in and out of sleep. 18 hour flight, and I watched just enough to piece together how terribly bland it is

I read about the controversy going in, wondered if it was overblown, then I saw the “digital editing” of ScarJo’s eyes and was already pissed. My friend and I turned to each other after about 15 minutes of incomprehensibility and gave the nod. I hadn’t actually seen the 1995 anime before trying to watch the live action, so I put that on afterward and boy did that really shine.

We were snowed in at college and my buddy suggested watching Eva since we had never seen it. We ended up watching the entire series in a single sitting, which may have been a foolish decision. Has there ever been a series that any of you have binged in one sitting? Also with the recent restored upload of Daicon III from a preserved 8mm film it would be cool to get your takes on this early artifact of pre Gainax studio animation along with the Daicon IV film. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment and I look forward to what is coming next.
