This is bridging into fun, but not really fact, territory. With the mention of a historical person who wasn't even going to feature, probably wasn't really intended as I've chosen to take it. In my mind, it's a half nod to what we could have done, under different circumstances. When the Doctor talks about it being before Casanova's time, and not wanting to bump into him. I have always thought it would have been really fun if he very briefly had in the episode. David Tennant played Casanova in a BBC drama before he played The Doctor. This was a contributing factor that helped him go onto play The Doctor, as this was also written by RTD. I'd have loved a very short, albeit very confusing cameo of Matt and David exchanging glances. It's not like they hadn't previously mildly referenced it when David took the role, as he was picking out his outfit in The Tardis and passing over what looked very much like a period Casanova garment.
