I know in Classic Who the master has a habit of returning from death with no explanation, but I think I would have preferred no explanation to cultist prison guards making magic potions only to be countered by his wife (who wears lipstick in prison), somehow commissioning a rival potion. A bit too convoluted even for me honestly haha. That said - "DINNER TIIIIIIIME!!!!" is the funniest scene ever put to television. Incredible stuff. I do also think it's wild that an devoted mystic cult sprung up around Harold Saxon - a guy who was only PM for like 1 day. It would be like if a cult sprung up around Liz Truss

"who is that guy?" well... thats LITERALLY james bond

I am also the people. He’s a slasher and he must be stopped. The only way he can be stopped is with a Hot Fuzz reaction!

Dylan

the people demand a Hot Fuzz reaction! it's me im the people

I think most people in the UK liked Obama a lot during his presidency, saw him as a refreshing tonic following Bush who would make headlines regularly for goofs and gaffs, and by this point public opinion on the Iraq / Afghanistan wars had completely turned. I can't think of any UK shows in the period that made fun of Obama the way every show + comedian made fun of Bush.

This part 1 is so iconic lol.... Blonde Electric Skeletor Master zipping around and eating people. The doctor and master chasing each other around a quarry like school boys. the horrible master eating scenes. the borderline incestuous relationship between Naismith and his "Daughter". Donna being Donna with the world's nicest husband. hiring a guy who barely looks like Obama to put his head in his hands. wilf pulling out the glock, "The Master Race", 500 extras shaking their heads back and forth, john simm wearing 50 outfits and doing little slay poses in an After Effects composition, SA from a 90yo woman.... it truly has everything emme like "yay time for a fun festive adventure" only to be met with the highest stakes the show has ever had. merry xmas!

The narrator's name is Dalton, Timothy Dalton

The shifting portrayal of the American president in doctor who is so funny. During the Bush era, we saw a folksy semi-southern-accented ahole who tried to impose America’s authority. All bluster and audacity. Then, during the Obama years, we get an actually normal, literal portrayal and this interesting plot inclusion. You can tell Obama’s liked by the writers. Then, well… I bet you can guess what happens following into the next presidency era… Even just portraying American politics/history in general, the contemporary administration affects the sentiments of the writers which leads the tone of the story. Their own British politics do that to but its just funnier from the outside perspective to see the shifting British writing lens of American politics/history. On a different note, I am so icked out by the father/daughter duo. Idk but their dynamic is… off. I'm glad I'm not alone in that reading. “Donna makes me so emotional.” I relate to that a lot. There’s just so much baggage with the doctor and donna and all the characters that seemingly random things make me well up. It’s really hard to see Donna like this. Final finale on Saturday- can’t wait! Happy new year!

I am not up to speed yet with Dr Who, so I will watch your reaction later, in the upcoming weeks. I just wanted to wish you an early Happy New Year and all the best wishes for 2025!
