here is my edited reaction to the doctor who special 2009: the waters of mars
wow.. this was possibly the creepiest/darkest episode from doctor who yet. so enjoyable and fascinating to watch!

The thing about this episode is the Doctor's hubris ruined a very legitimate chance to do the right thing harmlessly. All he had to do was bring the survivors to a nice, safe civilization in some other part of spacetime, where they could live full lives but would be presumed dead in 2059. Not the happiest ending for anyone's families but it's better than nothing. But he had to give in to the god complex and that doomed Adelaide as surely as the Flood did.

2025-01-08 01:16:04 +0000 UTCA bit of context for the Doctor's knowledge of ancient Mars: a recurring villain of the classic series were the Ice Warriors, lizard-like humanoids who inhabited Mars for the longest time, and were fierce, ruthless warriors but ones with strict codes of honour and loyalty. Long overdue an appearance!
