Dungeon Dangers: Brain-Burrow Earwig (Possesion / Body Control)

Known to inhabit old dungeons and favoring warm dilapidated habitats. These small seemingly defenseless insects are far more threatening than they initially appear.
Though small & weak, unable to deal any conventional damage to adventurers, these ambush predators utilize a unique hunting style that can fell even the most powerful of foes.
Dropping from ceilings, or stealthily climbing onto a potential host, the B.B. Earwig will attempt to make its way towards the creature's ear canal. Utilizing surprising bursts of speed, the B.B. Earwig will attempt to burrow through the ear canal with small, yet powerful, mandibles in an effort to reach the targets brain.
Once it has reached the brain, the B.B. Earwig attaches its specialized abdomen that begins emitting intense electrical currents directly into the brain. These electrical currents mimic & hijack the host’s brain as it begins to take control of the body.
The parasite, though simpleminded, is still an incredibly effective ambush hunter; Intent only on using the host body as the breeding hub for their brood for the coming generations. They attempt to insert as many more B.B. Earwigs into the host’s, and other nearby potential hosts’ bodies, as possible.
Perhaps even more frightening is the fact that hosts seem to be wholly aware & cognizant throughout the process, but are unable to act of their own will.
When exploring dungeons & ruins, we STRONGLY urge all adventurers to utilize ear protection such as earplugs. Additionally, time spent standing still, leaning against walls, sitting, or sleeping is HEAVILY discouraged. And the use of different bug repellent and sprays CAN be effective, but have success rates of less than 37%, so sole reliance on these products is not recommended.
