Launchbuddy 4.4.0 - Multiboxing Code Overhaul
Added 2025-02-06 18:00:13 +0000 UTCAfter months of troubleshooting and development, I am excited to announce the release of LaunchBuddy 4.4.0! This update took significantly longer than anticipated due to unforeseen compatibility issues introduced by recent Windows 11 updates. However, after extensive debugging and reverse engineering, these issues have now been resolved.
Challenges and Fixes
To ensure continued stability and performance, this update required:
A complete rewrite of the internal multiboxing functionality.
Reverse engineering of recent Windows 11 updates.
Adapting native Windows API functions to work around newly introduced compatibility issues.
Patch Notes
Multiboxing Overhaul
The entire multiboxing feature has been reworked and optimized for improved stability and consistency. Recent Windows 11 updates drastically increased the Process IDs (PIDs) assigned to running applications—sometimes exceeding buffers, despite many lower PIDs being available. This unexpected behavior led to buffer overflows in previously stable WindowsAPI calls.
To address this, the multiboxing code was completely rewritten, implementing a more robust method for fetching handle lists and preventing overflow issues.
This fix required reverse engineering, debugging Windows itself, and dealing with undocumented WinAPI behavior—truly a complex and time-consuming process.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Fixed an issue preventing Steam accounts from being multiboxed. It is now possible again to launch multiple accounts alongside of steam accounts
Merged the ClientInfo feature from the UI status bar into the home screen status icon. Users can now right-click the status icon for detailed launch progress updates.
Fixed an issue where the game data link button was not visible.
Resolved a bug that caused accounts to relaunch unexpectedly when closing at 80% load progress.
Fixed a bug that triggered an exception when LaunchBuddy attempted to interact with a closed game process.
Addressed an import error occurring when the gfx file was missing or corrupted.

2025-08-26 15:11:26 +0000 UTCI can't open GW2 Launchbuddy...I just paid for the premium version and I can't even open the program, I keep getting this: "The Invocation of the constructor on type 'Gw2_Launchbuddy.MainWindow' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception" And when I launch it again (now on the 15th try), I always get "Launchbuddy crashed on startup. Would you like to revert back to default settings?" which I did, everytime, but it doesnt work. The previous launchbuddies work just fine. I removed the folder in APPDATA as well just to see if that could fix something, but no dice.

2025-08-11 14:05:39 +0000 UTCI've been getting The gameclient did not change its version when updating (Previous Version:178159 New Version: 178159). Was the gameupdate successful? Please update Gw2 manually and only then proceed with Launchbuddys usage. On every update for a little while now, not sure if there's a way to get LB to do the whole update in one shot again, I've got to restart the client 3 times for accounts to be fully up to date.
