This Week in the Forest! #188

YO FOLKS! Been a minute! Sorry for the silence! I’ve had my hands full this summer and this keeps slipping my mind Dx!

Let’s start with A Word from Vixel!

5/6 update:

Hey floofs!! Last week I fixed another softlocking bug, and patched the builds in dropbox. I also brought in new content and worked on an interaction we need for the next build. Otherwise, I did some work on our WebGL build so we can eventually post an update to the play-in-browser version on Itch! This week will be focused on the remaining stuff we need for the next build. On my end, I’ve got a few fun updates! And then some life updates.
First! Bunny jorking it scene! I spent a bit of time setting up a fun little scene for these two. Hella fun :> I’ll do another poll for the next one soon!

Second! We’ve got some progress on the Mabel Toys! All of the molds are finished, cleaned and ready for mass production! That was a week ago, so I’d imagine they’ve got a small army of mabel’s forming now >D



Third! And TFOL-wise, last week I had prepped the assets for the next build for Vixel. The next build should be ready pretty soon, It’s another small build while we work on act 4 stuff!

Fourth - and still kinda TFOL-wise. I’ve been SO FUCKIN RUSTY with drawing these days. It’s bad. Like, feeling foreign sorta lmao. So, I’ve been doing a bunch more doodles and studies to keep sharp. Here’s some fun doodles:

Y'know what's funny. I actually ordered an old ass cintiq pen a couple days ago. A couple years back, I upgraded to the Wacom Cintiq 27 Pro. And the monitor is fuckin' great. But the PEN is fuckin' LAME. It's all modular, skinny, and... I dunno, over sensitive? The modularity also makes it EASIER TO BREAK. So I had one of the grips get all funky on me already. You heard it here, Wacom Pro Pen 3 sucks mah'balls.

So I actually ordered the older Pro Pen 2, which has more of the traditional form factor. But it's still super sensitive. 8k levels of sensitivity. It's way too much, I crank the sensitivity down so I don't have to push so hard.

But I also ordered the Grip Pen! This shit is like, 15 years old lmao. It was for the original Intuos tablets (which are now named the intuos pros), and it was shipped with the Cintiq HD series, which was the first black cintiqs, and wide screen! That was my first baby back in 2012 - I drew SOOOO MUCH on that shit lmao. Dude, and drawing on it? it's like welcoming back and old friend xD Fuckin' love this thing. 2k levels of sensitivity. Still more than enough. 

Pen 3 got rid of the eraser too. Which I never really used, but now that I'm having hand issues, and needing to stay off of hotkeys, I actually want the eraser thing back xD. Anywho I've been having a blast with the doodles/studies.

Oh, I included some time-lapses of some of those sketches. Pretty fun to see! Especially the water color like, drying.

Ok then life stuff!

SO y’all know I’ve been having wrist issues for a while. I’ve also been having THUMB issues on the same hand (well both hands actually). These hands SUCK BRO lmao. So over the past few months, I was doing PT for them, but not really much success. Last week I had an MRI for my left hand. The follow up appointment for that is in a few days, and I’m hoping I’ll get some answers. It’s likely I’m looking at at least steroid shots, and possibly surgery :x! We’ll see!

Despite all that, I started getting into climbing :O. Bouldering is what it’s called, just the walls with stuff to climb. Not quite the kids-walls that just have a buncha stones sticking out. These are the color-coated paths. It’s basically like mini-games that someone designs and you see if you can reach the top. Not super high, like 20 feet if even.

Anywho that shits been SUPER FUN, and oddly enough my thumb/wrist issues don’t show up during climbs. Which is weird since it’s like, WAY more intense. So I’m hoping this can actually help bolster up my fingers/thumbs. The wrist problem seems like an anatomical thing, so I don’t have much hopes for that. But we'll see.
