Behind the scenes EP6 Update about what has happened in the past weeks

Hi guys how are you doing? You haven't heard from me for quite a while now and I had to make this video about everything that has happened. I'm waiting for my new video card to arrive so I can edit without crashing. A thing that I didn't mention in the video is the insane amount of work that tubing chain was. More than 150 links printed out of Nylon which had to be deburred xD

By the way, Daniël and I recently made changes to the discord server so it's more clear. I wasn't that active yet because I had to find my way, but I will be more active on there. So, if you want to chat, I'm there :) Have a great day!

Yes! If you really want to get into the nitty gritty then you should watch Gerald Undone on YT. I just went through most of his videos at least twice but I think now I understand the basics of color science and cameras. I don't really like luts for artistic purposes but rather for correction purposes. Those will convert the videos into a standardized, clean slate with normalized color science. With that I have a good starting point to be creative with color grading. Edit: I never had luck with free luts. They just didn't work... The colors looked nothing like they promised. Now I know that my original footage simply already looked different than the original footage of the lut creator. With regards to the deluts @ProperPrinting: Those are super nice! I used them a little on the footage of my Canon 600D but the original bitrate and bitdepth was way too low for them to work properly. Now I'm using a Sony A7iii so those are no bueno 😅. I never understood why everyone was hating on Sonys color science. Now I do. But with the correction luts you literally can't tell the difference.

Just starting out filming with my drones, so definitely gonna look into LUT profiles for my different cameras... thanks for pointing me into another rabbit hole :-) Someone says freshluts.com(odd name for a site) is a good place for free LUTs... Don't know anything about color grading yet, but hey :-)

Interesting, I've used DELUTS from James Miller which has a CLOG3 picture profile for standard Canon DSLR's like my 80D. The LUTs however are pretty dark. Fortunately I've found some good free LUTs to use as base line. I got it from here: https://sellfy.com/jamesmiller/p/tovhs6/. I should improve my lighting too... I'm still using some cheap outdoor LED lights and a roll up curtain which is semi transparent white as diffusor xD

Oh and with regards to exposure. I use Leeming luts to correct my bt.2020 log footage back to rec709. The creator of those luts has specific settings that you can use for your camera to get perfect results. He explains how you have to set and use your zebras to always be spot on with exposure and it's super easy! Unfortunately it still can't correct for shit lighting 😩

Dude. The difference between premiere on an editing/gaming pc and final cut pro on mac laptop is not even funny. My PC would scream in agony/drop frames/crash whenever I used even the simplest effects. But for final cut on my mac it's a walk in the park. The cpu rarely even gets hot and when it does, then it's because I'm stabalizing footage. Export times also went down by a factor of around 70. Just crazy.

I don't have any experience with Mac, but I can imagine that if you buy a decent one like you did you can expect it to work flawlessly. Cool that you're learning to use log footage. This is exactly what I'm doing right now! I'm struggling with the exposure, but it seems that I'm getting the hang of it. We're in the same rabbit hole I'm afraid haha 😂

Thanks Oscar, it has been hectic and I hope I can finally finish this damn printer xD

Awesome to see that you're getting a - might I say - proper workflow again! 😄 I just switched my workflow and things are now much smoother and much less frustrating. But it also meant that I bought a Macbook that's more expensive than a car. Main changes were Final Cut Pro instead of Premiere, maticulous white balance and exposure for every shot, learning how to use log footage and capturing audio straight to the camera. It's still a mess but things are getting better. Would love to hear/see what your workflow looks like because I'm in that rabbit hole now 😄

That software does look powerful. What a time you've had, I know how it feels. That new chain link design looks awesome. Good video. Thank you
