The Reboots Poll

Hey, all!

I'm a pragmatist at heart, and I've noticed that the response to the new Max Powers series has been fairly subdued. Is this something the community wants? I'm very happy with the reboot of that and PP&P, but I am now realizing that I am retreading old ground with these comics. Before we get too far into the series (especially since Max Powers is scheduled to be released every Friday for the foreseeable future), I want to know if the community would rather see new comics that explore new themes and new characters.

Let me know in the poll below and in the comments. I have no problem "killing my darlings," and would rather produce content that my supporters want to see.

Thanks for your support and being amazing Patrons!

Firstly, this shot of Thea is extremely hot - smoking, even.. I'm happy for the reboots as long as they do something different. I like to see how you might pass through the same scenarios but on a completely different arc. As long as the characters are different and the story arcs are different, I don't mind revisiting some scenes, scenarios or even dialogue for nostalgia-bait / 'member-berries if the way you got there is different and it goes off in a new direction. I think the characters in 'Max Powers' are sufficiently different to make it like a new story and I'm still curious about the VereVixen link. Having said that, I think that reboots should be a (large?) minority of your stories and new stories should be a majority, but, "Holy Crap!" you've done a lot of variations over the years. When I went looking for 'genie' stories through your back catalogue that I have, and listed all the 'phenomena' you have used to trigger the changes, it's quite an extensive list. It wouldn't hurt to revisit some of those old concepts in a different way.

Absolutely love what you've done with PPP, and I like the max powers stuff too. IMO it doesn't feel like it is repeating too much, though I suppose it has been a long time since I read the powers stuff previously. I think max powers is slower so it likely takes more time to build up vs the PPP story which is usually fast paced and more heavily transformation focused. You might benefit from mixing in new stories too but I think things are ok as is

I personally love what you’re doing with PPP. I feel like it’s great lore building and sets the grounds for a bunch of potential spinoffs. I don’t know if this would be considered reboot but something I’d love to see revisiting characters. Movie night was a great example of this. The addition of Nelly’s story and the Christmas special I felt added so much more value to the original story. You’ve created such great characters over the years and there are some I’d love to see again. For example, (SPOILER ALERT) I’d love to see a story that shows how Bonnie from My Wife’s Twin: Witness Protection meets her fiancé and see her reflect on her wedding night as Bennie.

Ok I’ll admit I didn’t read it yet because I didn’t know Max Powers was a reboot. I thought it was a continuation/side story. So I was waiting to reread the original. Mostly my fault for not reading the intro post.

Something I’d like to perhaps see with the Powers series is a return to the original 2 comics and explore the alternate options that didn’t win the votes. Both a reboot, but also new territory with the alternate choices.

I would like to see a bit more original stories with a reboot here & there. If you reboot all work shows you are out of good ideas. To me, you have to keep making good stories without rebooting your past work.

My problem is I decided to reread the original Max Powers while the reboot comes out once a week. I have already thought things in the original were in the reboot multiple times.

I like the current direction Max Powers is heading, but I wouldn't mind seeing more originals mixed in. There's also the fact if you feel you are covering a lot of the same ground, you can just mix it up and change things. Speed things along in some cases, or go in a wildly different direction.

I know it has nothing to do with the Max Power series, but I wish My Wife's Twin would last longer. I'm a particular fan of this trilogy and I don't know what the chances are of a future fourth part.

Alexx

I'm not a huge fan of rebooting Max Powers as I'm a huge fan of the original, and I was kinda excited about the Verevixen storyline before Max Powers was introduced. The PP&P storyline doesn't feel like it's retreading ground like the Max Powers reboot is.

I admit I am not filled with enthusiasm for the new Max Powers. I'm not convinced this has anything to do with it being a reboot, though. This one just isn't clicking for me. That happens occasionally.
