2025-01-01 17:07:08 +0000 UTCI recently had the opportunity to go back stage at Cirque du Soleil during training and rehearsals (PD for work - yes, really) and some of the performers sat down with us and explained how they prepared and performed their acts. In this show, there were 'Russian poles' and other pole performances. Friction between the legs and poles is definitely very carefully controlled within a narrow sweet spot to be able to do a lot of their tricks, especially when inverted and catching from a drop. Definitely, no socks. She looks great in them, though. All other dancing, 'socks' / stockings / tights are usually fine, but may be open-toed, like leg-warmers, for grip or en pointe.
