Animating a Bowl Man and Other Details

This sums up a lot of what I've been up to the last couple weeks! I had the shot blocked in pretty fast, but now I'm going through slowly updating stuff that I don't think holds up as well. Definitely a "the last 5% of the polish is 90% of the work" situation, but that's when it gets fun.

Although I'm particularly happy with the laundry! I've got a BTS I'll try to upload tomorrow.

i know this is very old but this guide: https://youtu.be/vtdczoXVyvQ?feature=shared helps do exactly that and prep renders for post

"Alive" animation course $80 goes super in depth and slow enough for beginners

Jahluu

Duuude, literally so glad im here finally. Can you do or recommend any animation based vids? Its my weakest spot and ive learned more from you then any of the other ppl from YT. i guess bc your humors right on line with mine an mannerisms almost the same. So totally entertaining and a blast to take this ride with you.

Hi Ian, curious how you manage such a dense scene at render, do you break it down into individual passes of geometry and lighting then comp it all together or are you just rendering everything straight out of cycles in one pass? i'm dealing with some dense scenes with a bunch of different passes and haven't found any good worfklow for managing different sets of geo/lighting/image outputs in blender

Aiden S

Amazing, as always!

Roman Kovalev

need break down please

Samuek Tony Chau

I remember what a difference your first 3090 was for you, and the self-deluding part of me was holding out hope for my hardy 3080 ; )

Matt Kregor

It's true! There's a lot of optimization- basically always trying to make everything as small as I can get away with- but most of the heavy lifting is being done by a 4090, which makes a huge difference. In fact I'm slowly learning is that I probably OVER optimize, and can let textures be a bit larger and meshes more dense.

just sitting and doing a ZOMBIE(Bleak mindless stair). Damn sweet to watch blender used to it´s M_A_X :D GREATE !

Renekim

Good to know. Thanks

Matt Kregor

Breakdown please.

JB M

I've recently learned how important optimizing scenes are and how much of a difference that can make instead of just simply getting a more powerful machine (for working in viewport). Piotr Krynski has a great tutorial on Artstation about optimizing large scenes to run smoothly.

Grant Dyer

Just out of curiosity, would you be willing to share your system specs? I’m amazed at how you’re able to work so quickly with such a complex scene.

Matt Kregor

Two breakdowns id love to see are 17:49 and 17:50 of salad mug. The two large scenes

Benja Min

I need the breakdown!!!

Amazing and informative as ever!! The bowl rig blew my mind, I need to study this slowwwwly. Looking forward to the next video. Every time I get a new-Ian-post-notification, it's an exciting time!! Always super inspiring :)

Brooke Dibble

Haha AUUUUGH you're right the entire time I was doing this I was like "Ian- research this properly" and then I'd think "you rub the bowl- I've done it before- what is there to get wrong??"

Ian Hubert

When playing singing bowls the player runs the mallet around the outside of the bowl to sustain the vibration not the inside but I doubt most people will notice when watching the episode

An updated photos canning guide would be great!

Almost done yeaaay

Just look up 'slice of life' on YouTube. Slice of life is their channel but I'd start with the Bladerunner short film that I think is also called Slice of Life...

Joseph Ulibarri

Link?

Lukas Sprehn

Hey yeah but, how do you know the 'Slice of life' guys?!? I just discovered their channel recently.

Joseph Ulibarri

Marvelous once again. I'm borrowing the hair thing today.

“Auxiliary chill zone” will now pull daily driver duty in my household’s parlance, as in: “My wife has secured an ACZ”

Armando Marchetti

Another video! Love to see it!!

funnily enough, when you speak about always end up creating already existing religions, there is a fictional religion in the manga pun pun, which's slogan is "Good Vibrations" :D
