Modeling an Airport Waiting Room

could you show me the step by step to remove the green screen from the videos and cut the unused parts of the green screen....thanks

Btw. This looks pretty much exactly as the Terminal 2 in Antalya, Turkey. And now, post-season it's pretty much just as empty.

The problems with all my scenes: they are all looking like miniature scenes. I noticed that you are oft placing your camera on top like in this video showing in the down direction. Is it the secret?

Can't thank you enough for making this awesome video. Sharing your experience and the best part: literally narrating each step and explaning why you took every decision in order to achieve a realistic environment. Trust me, I've seen countless videos about blender and is not common to see the ammount of valuable info I saw here, because many videos are focused in only one or two things like: how to model an airport chair. Lol. THANKS IAN! I'm building up my own structures with some random footage (green screen) I found on the internet. Lets see how that ends ;)

This really scratched an itch for me, so to speak! I remember you saying (think it was at a talk) that the reason your shots are as polished as they are is because you spend more time poking away at them- this adds another dimension though that I think is important to flag- it’s not just about composing a shot, but doing so to communicate something about a character - that’s what makes a shot stick with you and elevates it from beautiful to truly poignant. I suppose you cannot underestimate the value of serendipity! Thanks for such a compressive reply, I’m going to spend some time going through the links/suggestions; there’s much to be gleaned from this 😄

AH! Thanks Chris! To me the funny thing about that shot is that my experience of creating it was the same as the character's; I was setting up the shot to look at the rain on the window, then noticed I still had the animation of the robot out of focus in the background, and I knew the shot *should* feature the robot, but I really wanted to show off how good the rain looked, so I put in the rack focus to split the difference. Which means, like, mechanically, it's just me hamfistedly trying to show off Alex Heskett's badass rain shader, but from a story standpoint it kinda quietly establishes that Jo's more in tune with the little things, and the outside world keeps butting in. There's some inspiration from Bong Joon-ho's "The Host" in there too, if you've seen that. It's a monster movie where one of the first proper times you see the monster it's initially quiet and obscured in the background, and it's eerie having something so important not wrapped in the usual "front and center" cinematic language. In the theater it was pretty unnerving :D ( https://youtu.be/vaxwv1rndPI at 1:33 ) BTS wise, it's literally just a little windowpane in front of the camera, with the rest of the scene behind it, and a little rack focus. (https://nuggetblends.gumroad.com/l/Rain_ that's the rain shader I used) It looks absolutely fantastic in basically every scene I've used it in, especially a tad out of focus. One thing we don't tend to do often with CG shots is film "through" things, like mirrors or panes of glass. A lot of "real life" cinematography involves happy accidents, exploring the location and finding angles, in a way that isn't as easy with CG, so I think we tend to set things up more "direct"- but I think it's a good reminder to myself to find ways to "film through" things- so thanks a ton for that! :D

On episode 2 of ‘Chris loves that shot but can’t quite work out why’ - circa 1:20 of Salad mug when the focus shifts from the glass pane to the rooftops above. It’s definitely the shot that stuck with me the most. There’s a lot of feeling to it & it’s killing me that I just can’t work out why… Would love to see a viewport BTS screenshot of that setup but I don’t suppose I could find that anywhere!

I’m not totally sure in which form (I still have dreams of wrapping up all the old footage we shot), but mostly yes! The new Dynamo Dream episodes are about to start overlapping with a bunch of the old stuff! Always drove me crazy that we never wrapped that up :D
