Asset: Animated Crowd

Should be super self-explanatory, but I also included a quick how-to-use video up above (although for more information I recommend watching the video I just uploaded earlier today).  I went through and gave them all a tiny bit of bounce in their step, too, which helps the realism.

Maybe some day I'll redo this with better photoscans and more variety (the initial scans were mostly just a test, not something I was going to be using, y'know, a lot)- but until then, hopefully this is useful!

Nevermind I am quite stupid at this time... right ? click ? ahah

Just copy paste them:)

HOW DO I EXPORT THEM TO A DIFFERENT PROJECT IN BLENDER................PEASE HELP VERY DESPRATE

Dear Ian (or actually anyone who could help me) ! I tried to change the location of the crowd, but if I put them high-er on Z they just fall down, and if I pud them lower on the Z they just jumping back immediately. I tried to change the location at the Properties - Delta transform but still no success. Any idea where I made mistake? (i'm a beginner so clearly its my silly fault I just can't figure it out) Thanks a lot!

I meant to do 500 but accidentally hit the zero four times... 0.007fps.

I tried it with 50,000 people and its crazy!

Hi Ian, I wanna say thanks a lot for this asset, it's actually helping me A LOT on a VFX project, which is in a really thight deadline. I'll send you the final composite render, and the entire videoclip when it will be done, if we finally use this technique. Thanks again, cheers from France.

A combination of boids and those nightmare men from the lazy tutorial.. straight out of a horror movie

Ooo- sorry I'm only now seeing this! Just to make sure- you made the ground they're supposed to walk on a collision object, yeah?? Maybe have the particle generator start a BIT above the ground? It's possible if they start off thinking they're intersecting the ground plane, the collision won't register? Sorry you're having problems!

Ian Hubert

I'm having an issue where i append in both the collections, then bring the platform for the prepped walkers up a bit to match the floor of my project, but once i click play, they just start falling down, and keep going down, any ideas on why this might be? i havent started learning the physics part of blender yet to know if theres something i gotta do there or not

nope, he's in washington and that's quite specific; I'd check sketchfab for photogrammetry of coral if I were you

At the risk of sounding like an idiot I was wondering how close you are to the coast of Oregon? I only ask because I was wondering if you would possibly do scans of coral, starfish, and sea sponges or something like that. I don’t even know if that kind of stuff is up there though. That’s the part I was worried about sounding like an idiot on.

心中的神,Ian!

Your Patreon is the best money I've ever spent....keep it up, you're a huge inspiration!!!

Ahahaha, that's great!! Which system are you using for VR??

Ian Hubert

This is so awesome. Thanks for sharing the asset too! I had to check out this scene in VR to remind myself what its like standing in a large crowd.

Great stuff, Ian. Thanks alot.
