The Big Poll

Here's the poll people have been waiting for, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

This year will see 100 page weekly updates for Costumed: Darkest Night and Dress Up Vol. 2&3, but after that I'm open to returning to the old cadence of releases. I'm grateful for everyone of you that stuck with me through this change, but from the amount of Patrons who left it's clear this was an unpopular decision for some.

So, what would you like to see? A return to four comics a week? Maybe two comics with 50 page updates? Or maybe you love the campaign how it is and don't want any changes in 2024? Hey, maybe you'd just like to see more updates with less pages?

Let me know below, but please keep in mind I'll still do what I feel is best for me and the campaign in 2024. That being said, I greatly value your opinion and would like any comments on the mater as well.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and vote, and especially for supporting me and my work. I couldn't do this without you!

Thanks!

-Tyler Layne

PS: You know I can't post without an image, so here's Intersex Thea! :D

The Big Poll

Comments

I voted for 2 comics, 2 x 25 updates each, but only because it seems that sort of output is what might keep some more of your readers, who are not like me, engaged. Personally, I don't care how it comes, only what comes. I think the quality of storytelling has improved significantly since you made the change. There are still some formulaic sequences and scenes, but I know that is probably what a lot of people are tuning in to see and it may also be what makes you happy, so I accept some things are always going to be constant. That is probably the secret sauce for your business model. I think the images and scenes have improved and models have been more realistic and more to my liking, so I have no complaints about that. I guess 33% is a big hit to take, but I wonder how that will pan out. You may have lost a big section of your readership, who were only here for a wham, bam, thank you ma'am fix. Will your readership grow back to what it was eventually, but with a bigger proportion of readers who are interested in your story-telling and artwork? I don't know, and I don't know how sustainable that prolonged drop in readership is for your business, so that's your call to make. Is it better for you to have absolute numbers that you have to sustain with lower-quality fluff pieces, or is it better for you to have lower absolute readers for a while that are totally into the stories that you want to tell or to go on the pathways that you want to explore. Again, that's your call from the business/profit vs fulfilment/creativity dichotomy (if there actually is a dichotomy). Personally, I think your readership will grow back gradually with people who prefer the improved story quality. that seems to be ringing true everywhere, with movies, games, comics and TV shows. In summary, as others have said, I think having multiple storylines staggered, will keep more people continuously subscribed and if they don't like one story, they may stay tuned for the other one. More frequent updates may keep other people more continuously subscribed too. From my perspective, I usually only tune in sporadically and read everything in big chunks anyway, due to my workload and life situation at the moment, so the size and frequency of updates are irrelevant to me. I'm only interested in the quality of artwork, which was always good, but I think lately has been more creative and satisfying for me; and the quality of plots and writing, which I think, again lately, has been at a higher level and much more engaging. However it works out best for you, your workflow, creativity and income, I'd love to see the level of artistic creativity and storytelling continue to improve. It seems lately you've been more adventurous and exploring new things, which I've found very refreshing and engaging. Before the change, things were getting very formulaic and stale. I wouldn't like to see a return to that, but that might be exactly what that 33% want - McTrinity with fries, to go. Again, you need to decide what you want as your market and how sustainable that is.

Personally, I like to fab while watching full comic. Waiting for some update also builds some anticipation so more frequent updates might work too. As for content, I am a *big* fan of those comics with dark twists or like transnet where character is in deep trouble if someone finds out about their transformation. Also collaborations work well for me.

I really like the way things are now. I feel the storytelling in these comics since the change have gotten better (don't know about the TACO comic though; the TACO comics aren't really my taste). I feel that that's because you only have to focus on the script for one comic a month, rather than stretch yourself too thin trying to work on four comics a month. While I miss having a variety of comics each month, I feel like the storytelling suffered from trying to do so much different comics in one month. As someone who's here for the stories, as well as the transformations, this is how I feel. I like how it is now. One story driven comic worked on each month, plus a bonus comic each month that's lite on plot and heavy on transformations/sex for the patrons who just want to see someone get transformed and have hot and heavy sex. To be fair, you should what you think is best for you. What do you think you, as a creator, would feel comfortable with? How much creative juices do you have flowing through you? And do you think you would be able to continue to tell good stories with more or less comics to make each month? But in my opinion, I think the system you have as of now is just fine. I miss having multiple comics a month, but I rather have one good comic worked on a month than four okay/sub-par comics a month. Quality over quantity. PS - By the way, I voted for the "1 comic; 100 page update" choice.
