Tora-nids (Minimicus voracius) were born from a freak accident where a Small Tora Legion recruit took a bath in a reclamation pool (the recruit was unharmed), forever tainting a portion of the hivemind and that particular fleet of horrors.

Subsequent spawns resulted only in Tora-nids, which possess the friendliness of a Small Tora combined with the hunger of an unspeakable evil. They are extremely sociable and communicate in "RAHHH"s and hisses. The mere presence of a single Tora-nid emanates a psychic wave that instills a deep terror in hive fleets, driving them away.

On planets colonised with Tora-nids, unique environmental conditions and agricultural customs result in the mutation of the common tomato strain from a red color to a pink varietal which they prefer.

Sometimes, a Tyramatora (Solanum voracius) can spawn from a mutant tomato plant, with this creature acting as a supportive figure that oversees Tora-nid growth and provides words of advice to the rest of the swarm.
