BLACK FRIDAY - Tickle Me Wiggly thru Our Doors Are Open (FIXED AUDIO)

Sorry about the weird sync issues with that first one y'all! Glad I could get it fixed same day

Comments

The first time i heard "What Tim Wants" I was holding my toddler and I started to weep and he reached up and gave me a big kiss along with a *muah*, which resulted in me sobbing.

BronzeDionysus

Im nearly 50 so yes I remember watching on the bbc news here in uk about black friday. We didn't really have black friday till internet shopping became more accessible. So about 15 yrs ago a mum friend , my son and her daughter where friends in primary and my middle son would play with her youngest son they where same classes at school , she would go out at 1am boxing day to queue for the boxing day next sale.

Liz Lilliman

I binged the guy who didn't like musicals and I absolutely couldn't keep myself from seeing the rest of black friday, starkid shows are just too good, and watching you react to them is even better

sofia.

I've never supported a patreon before, I don't enjoy reaction/analysis channels, but I absolutely binged your YouTube content, Caspers, and the openarmsreact channel and loved every second! Glad to support a kind artist and cool community

Colten Thompson

Hatchetfield saga is great in the fact that 2 is better than 1 and 3 is better than 2. It just keeps getting better and better.

Bretton B

I generally find with this show that people are super harsh. It is a big show and it has a lot going on with it. Not perfect but very enjoyable: great performances, great staging and songs.

Dave Ballinger

Re-newed my patreon to you for this !

Mellohi

This show ruined my goddamn life with the vocal stims I got from it. My favorite is “Well I hope you don’t get a wiggly. I hope you fucking die!”

Ratatosk Clarke

I absolutely agree with this, even as someone who really loves this show! I think Black Friday suffers from pacing issues and jarring tone shifts that really don’t work as well especially compared to how good TGWDLM was. I will say, I noticed similar pacing issues in some of their other shows (for example, NPMD has some pacing and writing issues as well), but they are very easy to spot in this show specifically, and I think off the back of how successful and well done TGWDLM was, it ended up being a lot more noticeable. I ended up loving it a lot despite those issues, and I hope getting to see someone else’s perspective on it grows your appreciation for it! (and if it doesn’t thats great too, at least you gave it another shot).

Ratatosk Clarke

Also yes, that is actually why it's called *Black* Friday

Robin

This is my favorite of the hatchet field trio, it has its issues with pacing but I really love the vibes and most of the songs! It like just barely is above TGWDLM for me. I am also biased because I REALLY did not like NPMD (unpopular opinion I know). I hope you enjoy!

Ratatosk Clarke

In terms of the off singing occasionally, a lot of them were sick during filming :( it was in the fall/winter so they were getting sick on and off unfortunately.

Ratatosk Clarke

I have never "clicked" with Black Friday the same way as the other Hatchetfield musicals. I kept trying to watch it and getting distracted, even though I love everyone in this (I can't wait for Mortius to see Angela in Nerdy Prudes Must Die). I think the major part of it is Tom's song, the second song in the show is too long and heavy for that early in the show - it feels like an act 2 end of the character arc. [amateur dramaturg hat on] That song needs to be later in the show because he's positioned to be The Protagonist and that's the "I want" song. And it is, but they tell me everything about him on his very first scene in that Carousel "Soliloquy" of a song so he has nowhere else to arc based on what he learns in the show. I would let the audience dislike Tom a little longer. I would move Tom's song after "CaliforMIA" and he sings it before/when meeting Lex in the alley - he doesn't sing it to her, but she's smoking in the background or off to the side and can hear. That makes "CaliforMIA" fit into the more ideal 'I Want' position.

Hanon Ondricek

Don’t worry too much about “spoilers” when it comes to relationships between Hatchetfield musicals because the truth is none of us know either. Chances are anything you hear is speculation, not spoiler. Also, Doors Are Open is my #1 underrated song, but the next one is rated perfectly (Good. It’s good)

Ink Inc

"Thats NOT how cameras work, what the--?" I feel like a dinosaur--the hand crank cameras are way old but growing up in the 90s, the motion Ethan is doing was the universal signal for "film" when playing Charades

Robin

Let me tell you seeing Grace Chastity here as a sniggle after nerdy prudes xD jarring

Leah Davis

Mortius, with all due respect and for your own sanity: it's okay to enjoy villains. It's only fictional.

TiaMattia2

Not on his own, Kaleigh told him after she got this (there's a screenshot in the discord server of his surprised response)

Smee

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned it or not, but i was reminded when you weren’t sure if someone hit a note wrong or if it was intended to sound dissonant that i think some important context is that like everyone in the cast had covid and didn’t realize so they were sick for some/most of the run and not at 100%, They mentioned it in a livestream at some point but im not positive which one.

Maria Harrington

Wait so did he ever realize it was Dylan Saunders or no?

Russell

Me just waiting for him to recognize Ja’far haha

Laney

I'm glad you survived that wildness, fellow 90's kid!

Kory Misun

I love whenever he pops up in Meredith Stepien's vlogs! The cast always goes wild and there's lots of hugging.

Kory Misun

I'm grateful for the subtitles, because I might have misheard Wiley otherwise. I wondered during my first watch that if Frank passed a threshold of making too much money, he'd become a Wiggly monster or slip into a greed coma.

Kory Misun

If I had to give a sin to The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals it would be Sloth. Sloth isn't just laziness it's moral or spiritual apathy. The entire core of the musical is that Paul DOESN'T want anything. He fails to join in or finish tasks because he just isn't invested in anyone or anything except Emma.

Takeyia Twitty

If you're confused about if this is a sequel or in the same universe, you will remain confused unless you watch Nightmare Time.

Sunayama

Mortius is the first reactor I've seen who noticed the ominous tone of "once you go black..." and didn't just wince at the racist vibe

Robin

Oooooh I second this! I take my adaptations of A Christmas Carol seriously and VHS Christmas Carol immediately landed on my holiday classics list when I first saw it. It’s such a fun take with some of my favorite starkid music (thank you Clark)

Erica

I love Black Friday, so I’m thrilled for this 😂😂😂

Lauren Williams

I'm definitely excited to see you jump into this one, it has my favorite music from the trilogy for sure. Also as it gets closer to the holiday season if you plan on taking a break between musicals again id recommend watching their take on the Christmas carol. Its way shorter then their normal musicals but its a really fun watch.

14blackwolves

I'm genuinely so excited you're loving this so much. It's my absolute favorite and I feel like people don't often want to admit to enjoying Black Friday, or if they do, they write it off for some reason 😞 It genuinely feels haunting to me and I had to watch it twice in a row the first time I saw it because I couldn't just sit in the haunting feeling it left me with, and I forced a friend to watch it with me online. I genuinely love it so much. Thank you for enjoying it as much as I do so far!

Sterling Klein

I will never not smile when Curt's character sings "she's not as hot as she used to be" about Kim's character for that reason

Anna Lyons

i am SO EXCITED this is my favorite of the hatchetfield trilogy

oh no elizabeth

In terms of the universe connection, canonically there was a timeline split and each story is a different timeline. But they are all connected to each other, I recommend watching the Nightmare Time mini-series (each of which have at least one song, and give glimpses into other timelines and lore), at least up to The Witch In The Web before Nerdy Prudes Must Die. They'll help a lot, even if some of them are incredibly disturbing, and the first few have sound issues due to the pandemic.

Faeolin the Wild Elf

I was born in 2k and don't remember the really good deals, but it was still close enough in memory that my mom refused to go out on Black Friday. There were also a lot of disney shows that had a Black Friday or crazy sale episode. I think it is forgotten that there are a decent amount of millenials that are still fans of Starkid from their AVPM days. I would say somewhere between 1/3-1/2 of their audience saw the crazy Black Friday stuff Also, petitioning to do Starship between Black Friday and NPMD. It's good to see that before Cinderella's Castle since there's a ton of puppetry and it's kind of a retelling of the Little Mermaid. Joey, Dylan, and Lauren are amazing in it and it has imo the best Starkid love story

Allison Watts

"do I know this character?" It's all your fault J'afar.

Sterling Klein

Don't know if someone already said it but Curt and the actress who plays Becky which her name is Kim are married in real life

Nola Scott

Clearly I must watch this again now that the audio is fixed. How many times can I watch it before the second session drops? Time will tell

Robin

This is proof that Dylan Saunders can play any character. He puts so much heart into all his roles that I can't help but adore all of them. By the way, I'm so sorry but meet Frank Pricely, the exact opposite of Bill who is a lovely man and father. (Bless you, Corey Dorris and your amazing range.) I can't explain my hype. I know basically all the words to this show. I hope that you enjoy this, Mortius and all first-watchers! It's free to watch and always will be, on the Starkid channel! <3 Y'all, I can't. Everyone's so talented. The beautiful redhead you didn't recognize is Curt Mega's wife! I think she'd play an epic Tatiana if she wanted to. Since Hatchetfield feels isolated and there are a lot of folks suffering financially, I'm not surprised that getting their hands on seven grand would mean a lot to a person.

Kory Misun

So excited for the rest of your reaction! And I’m really happy you are enjoying it so far

Mikayla Prushik

Can’t believe Mortius doesn’t remember Jafar! This shall not be forgiven

Matt Mayhem

Thanks for a wonderful video as always. Helps cheer me up after needing to do a bunch of blood tests today (while knowing that they likely will all be inconclusive). So thanks for the pick-me-up! I hope you enjoy one of my favorite musicals of all time

l3erryPipsqueak

I think I remember hearing about people being trampled and such during black fridays in my lifetime, but thankfully I was never actually there trying to get something during those times! <.<

White Tiger

the extended applause for Dylan was because Dylan was gone from Starkid for a while (his last appearance being Twisted) so i believe people were pleasantly surprised that he came back for Black Friday!!

atria

Not sure who said it, might have even been you Mortius, but yeah, sometimes you have to remind yourself that every member of Team Starkid is an excellent singer, because those songs and harmonies sometimes hit you unexpectedly! :o

White Tiger

About to start part 2, but waiting for Mortius to realize that Tom is being played by Dylan Saunders aka Jafar from Twisted :)

Brittany Shaw

I love how Mortius is just so emotionally devastated by Tom’s character that they didn’t realize it was Dylan Saunders😭 between Ja’far and Tom he’s got to be one of the best actors from Starkid

LilLadbug

Reposting this from the one with the messed up audio: People have said it before, but the hatchetfield series is essentially a horror multiverse in the same vein as the Cloverfield movies (cosmic horror movie franchise where all the films were released as standalone movies but then later recontextualized as being from the same series through things like time travel, multiverses, etc.)

Chris

I’m so glad you are watching this one next!!! The trilogy is 100% better when you see this in order!! So many references to come 👀👀👀

Kate Murphy

I'm part of the Starkid fans who are actually around the age of the members, I'm a 90's kid, so I've seen the whole chaos black friday has been across the years. When I watched the musical for the first time I was fascinated, cause just the previous months I was working on retail around Christmas, and there was this collections of dolls (magical elfs would be the translation of the name) from the same store I worked at, and the lines to get the dolls were endless, I was there at 9 am and many people were there already, the doors open and they were like predators, it was crazy, thank God not my department. Black Friday captures the essence of retail and consumerism madness.

Lex Villagrán

Thank you for fixing the audio! That was. Disorienting lol

Lars_Bars

This is my fav starkid show and it’s so raw and human and amazing! Stoked for this!

Broody Gaming

I thought the same thing lol… my Wiggly is a prized possession. Worth it lol

Lindsey

Not him making comments asking who would buy a Wiggly for that price... While I'm watching this snuggling with my own Wiggly

MissDisneyChick

Thank you!!! The audio on the original was really rough on me and my lovely audio processing issues.

Chuck

This is my favourite starkid musical I’m so excited to see you watch this. ❤️❤️❤️

EepLeep

I was watching it right now and it was distracting so I'm really grateful you fixed it 🛐
