Well, it could be a fire sparrow, but Liren's protagonist bullshit causes it to evolve (now or in the future) into a phoenix bloodline

2026-02-13 05:11:09 +0000 UTCI am hoping Uncle Gen and his swan get the Nine Colored Plumage. Tian, Hong and Burning Heaven protect those two as they cultivate/atavite (?) which induces epiphanies and crazy tribulations all around. Meanwhile that lazy old Northwind and his useless humans get nothing.

2026-02-12 21:45:04 +0000 UTCI have no idea if Tian has a latent bloodline. It would be traditional to give the mc a dragon bloodline but I don't think we've seen evidence of that . If anything his build is a closer thematic match to the aforementioned tree the Vermillion bird roosted on.
Robert Mullins
2026-02-12 21:29:24 +0000 UTCI should also point out that Liren has a southern mountain physique from her ancestors and an ancestor who mated with a "fire sparrow", and that Liren has the fate of a protagonist. Lets put those facts together with knowledge that mythologically the Vermillion bird Roosted on a tree on the Southern mountain. And what do we get? Chance of a bloodline far more significant than a simple 'fire sparrow'.

2026-02-12 21:22:26 +0000 UTCI will make the following prediction. Tian and Hong will under go another tribulation, for another Finger and Sun respectivly, before hitting peak 9. Then the next arc will culminate with them crossing into the heavenly realm granting Tian his last Finger and a Tribulation so extreme it shatters Starseive's barrier.

2026-02-12 21:13:23 +0000 UTCIf Tian is getting lessons straight from a Daoist Master, albeit disguised as Elder Rui, does that technically make him a Direct Disciple?

2026-02-12 20:45:57 +0000 UTCSo we just recently had the discussion of Liren's ancestor mating with a fire sparrow and now they are talking about bloodline awakening fruits. Coincidence? I think not!

2026-02-12 19:22:50 +0000 UTCIt seems like Tian and Liren are really enjoying the journey through level 8 and 9. Will they really want to rush through it?

2026-02-12 18:41:08 +0000 UTCI like the twist that it is for the birds. It is one of those "out of the left field" things. Without that, yes, it would be a 25th+ "opened realm", /yawn, etc. :)

2026-02-12 17:34:00 +0000 UTC"The naked ape started growing feathers, looked like a fledling with molting disease attempting to figure out how to walk" A elder crane. "Honestly the naked mole rat atavist seemed both much more happy and way better looking" Another elder. I do sort of hope it turnd out the swan is a trash talk master on principle to be honest

2026-02-12 16:48:47 +0000 UTCI also got the opposite impression. Rui or whoever was talking through him did not seem happy with Tian and didn't seem to budge at all in his viewpoint

2026-02-12 16:42:14 +0000 UTCOh boy. A "opened realm" arc.

2026-02-12 16:17:49 +0000 UTCHuh, that's an interesting line of thought cause yeah, cultivators don't need to worry so much about the sorts of poisons normal humans need to fear, so I guess Cultivator chefs look at things far far differently than regular chefs might

2026-02-12 16:02:19 +0000 UTCI think this is a good point to go back and look at the first time Tian and Liren met. The difference between that and now is, I dunno, joyful? https://www.patreon.com/posts/123951929?collection=1360193

2026-02-12 15:44:31 +0000 UTCCatalyst! But would it be worth it in the long run? Is his foundation already ready for Heavenly realm? Also, it's only worth getting if Liren gets one as well.

2026-02-12 15:34:24 +0000 UTCTo be fair he did put a bangle on it. In the words of the Warrior Poet Shakewell “she gon’ fall in love wit it (cultivation) the way I make that [Diantian] churn”

2026-02-12 15:16:45 +0000 UTCIt is a mild thing but I wonder considering the nature of xylems helping a plant remain crisp if it has water what the line may be between alive and dead for storage rings for leafy greens. And relatedly thus considering enhancements presumably to toxins and ability to chew through material from cultivation would living ones be preferred in some ways? Like a lot of cooking is to get out toxins but to a cultivator the tanins and secondary aromatics may actually be quite liked? And with the area so rich in qi a living plant may be able to continually exude such "flavorings" over the meal and possibly multiple such sesssions. Which in turn makes me quite curious about the birds cuisines. Not like fire is the entire baseline of actual cooking and I assume they may have some good stuff from things as simple as say feeding material to be purified by lotuses

2026-02-12 15:15:54 +0000 UTCLooks like people were probably right about that 4000 years comment coming from the Daoist Master, whether he was diguised as Elder Rui or speaking through him somehow. Also, "He was getting through to Elder Rui, and he suspected he was getting through to whatever Daoist Master was eavesdropping." Did anyone else have this takeway from last chapter? Based on how "Rui" was acting I had assumed the opposite but painful experience has shown me I'm not the best judge of these things.

2026-02-12 15:15:01 +0000 UTCA trial like this opening up where they'll have to compete against heavenly realm opponents shortly after having an almost argument with a teacher about the importance of respecting your seniors is absolutely not coincidental.
