The Bird Tier List
Added 2021-06-01 22:59:55 +0000 UTCHere it is, the culmination of 3 months work. At 24 minutes long, this video is over three times longer than average for my channel. Hopefully the extra time and effort will have been worth it! This is still not the finished version, I'm still adding a few sound effects here and there. The final version will go up on Youtube and Nebula later this week, but at least now you can check out what I've been up to!

2021-06-03 06:41:11 +0000 UTCIt's about time for an evaluation of birds, but well worth waiting for. No real surprises about the top and bottom tiers, but it's interesting that with such a strong starting point many so players still come up with poor builds. It becomes even more striking if you consider how many birds have vanished completely over the past two or three hundred years. But I must take issue with your assessment that swans are effective defenders and falcons are not. Swans have all the intimidation of a scaled-up goose, but behind the bluff they are slow, weak and clumsy, no danger to players in their own weight class, let alone higher. There is a reason they don't dare stray far from water. Compare that with the peregrine falcon, which has been known to kill a bald eagle that threatened its nest.

2021-06-02 19:15:50 +0000 UTCAmazing vid(as always). However the music was really loud at parts, louder than your voice even. Not sure if anyone else thought so

2021-06-02 19:10:06 +0000 UTCParabronchi - the 9 air sacs around a bird's body, right? Yeah, without those it felt a bit... (•_•) ( •_•);⌐■-■ hollow (⌐■_■),

2021-06-02 13:28:08 +0000 UTCUsed to live near the Sammamish River. Crows by the thousands roost nearby, and some days you'd see a "bird river" in the sky, as they would arrive from the southwest in a single column (a dozen birds wide) for nearly an hour. Their caws from the treetops were deafening. Visit the area around the UW Bothell campus in the fall, if you want to relive the Hitchcock film "The Birds". (Which ironically was made the same year that they destroyed and rebuilt the Sammamish River). - A group of crows is called a murder because they're Morbid Corvids. Once watched a heron that wanted to go 15 feet down the river - it just extended its wings and picked up its feet, flapped once, and glided there. So graceful. To counter human-flown planes, use human-operated large quadcopters. To counter large quadcopters, use small quadcopters. To counter small quadcopters, use eagles.

2021-06-02 13:00:28 +0000 UTCNice! I really expected at least a short mention of the parabronchi as one of the class features traits critical to the bird play-style. Just mentioning their hollow bones seems inadequate without touching on the rest of their ability to continuously and efficiently pull oxygen from the air.

2021-06-02 06:29:21 +0000 UTCI also like the long format. At 10:50 it seems there's still a preview file with watermark in it.

2021-06-02 06:03:09 +0000 UTCGreat video! Appreciate the extra length. One little edit I noticed was at around 17:48, there’s a weird quick cut in between clips.
