6:10 Without closed captioning, I can't be sure what food Hasan's talking about, but it sound like it might be paratha? That's one of several types of Indian flatbread. This one is layered that, made primarily from whole wheat flour and often cooked on a skillet. It can be served plain or stuffed with various fillings, such as spiced potatoes or cheese, and is popular in many South Asian cuisines. "Just because they were Muslim?" Muslim on the "wrong" side of the Partiotion, yes. The religious friction and violence was horrific, thanks to the British having spent decades playing one group against the other. 19:00 No, Najma didnt' go back in time, only Kamala did. I think *maybe* what we're seeing is a kind of karmic wormhole, connecting Najma's dagger attack of Aisha in the past to her dagger attack on Kamala in present day; striking the bangle completed a kind of magical noor circuit and activated the last-ditch hope "spell" that Aisha began with "What you seek is seeking you." The closed circuit brought Kamala to the past to save her grandmother Sana and lead her back to the train.

Yup, pretty emotional. It was nice to get the backstory for Kamala's...great grandmother??? Am I getting that right?? I love those old black and white family photos, and it was great to see her grandmother's reaction at seeing the one of her parents with her as a child...and Kamala's seeing HER mother's picture from when her mother was her age. Aisha = STUNNING. When Kamran called Bruno Brian--AGAIN!--I said "OK...who's this now??", forgetting that he's been calling him Brian from the start 🤣 When you asked what went into Kamran when his mother died...it was 'the power', I think that's what she was muttering about just before being...what? dissolved? Kinda what that looked like.

For me, episode 5 was the most emotional. I almost cried when I saw Aisha on her last knees after Najma stabbed her. However, I liked that Kamala tried to reason with Najma. She doesn’t condone what she did to her great-grandmother Aisha, but seeking retribution is beneath her. Instead she reminded her that it’s not too late for her son Kamran to live a life of his own.
