Writing Article - The Perfectionist
Added 2019-05-31 17:10:05 +0000 UTCIt's been a while and I need to catch up on articles missed, but this month I wanted to share an important lesson I had to learn early, and which I think many people don't bother to learn at all. That is the difference between a perfectionist and a professional, and why seeking perfection in your writing may be the one thing holding you back from becoming a writer.
Don't be a perfectionist. Be the professional imperfectionist.

Even though I don't really seek to become a writer in a professional sense, this is some useful advice. I sometimes get too hung up on minute details to really move forward with my stories and I occasionally do go back to revise the crap I once wrote. That said, I feel like perfectionism is a goal for some people, as in, they care more about writng something really good than about writing a lot of stuff. It might not be practical and may be counterproductive at times, but its not like I don't get any satisfaction from finishing a polished story either.
