Looking to the future...

No update today (Mon11Aug)

I have been called in to speak with my doctor today. I've been told to come in for a discussion, but not to worry too much because it isn't bad, but also that it's quite important so I can't push it back, but not to take that as a sign it's bad.

No, they can't discuss it over the phone. This really needs to be in person. But don't worry, I'll be good to drive home after and I shouldn't feel the need to come in with any family or emotional support.

Sister Complex (3rd June)

I'm afraid that ff is not working very well right now, throwing me off with 503 server errors whenever I try and login to post the update. It's happening to a lot of people going by the forums.

I'm posting the chapter here and setting it to free, so if anyone you know is struggling then you can send them here.

Sick today (and perhaps tomorrow)

I came down sick on Sunday from my parents but assumed I'd be fine. Writing Bard was rough, but doable. What I didn't expect was to be so sick that I couldn't sleep even a single minute all night. Went to bed 9am, stayed awake staring at ceiling until 6am when I gave up.

I'm in no state to write anything. Soreness, muscle aches, vomitting, headache, and now sleep deprivation on top. I'm going to take a bunch of medicine and try to just sleep all of today. Hopefully I'll be right as rain...

Hi all. Sorry again but another notice of no update on today (Sat 8th March) due to sickness. I'm fairly certain it's sickness due to stress since I'm not sleeping much. All related to my closing job, thankfully, so once it's over it's over for good.

Cannot wait for that!

No Update Tomorrow (13th Feb)

The company I work for is finally beginning the insolvency process and I have to hold a group redundancy meeting with every member of staff and then individual meetings with each member to discuss their thoughts, offer voluntary redundancy, explain their rights, etc. It's going to take pretty much all day in terms of meetings.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!

As a small gift, I've attached a chapter of an old story idea that's currently in limbo. Not 100% sure if I'll ever do it, as it's one of those ideas that comes, seems fun, but which you don't necessarily believe will make for a full story.

Sick Today

Hi all. I'm too sick today to write and may be sick tomorrow as well. Not sure. It was bad yesterday but that chapter was pre-written on Friday so no problems. Today is worse, and I've barely had any sleep. Can't write. Hopefully I'll be fine tomorrow. Stocking up on meds and LemSip today. Yum.

No update - Mon 2, Sept - also, some stuff

Hi all. There will unfortunately be no update today as I've been sucked into an all-day teams meeting with a sales rep in Singapore and will be in this through afternoon and evening as well. Taking a 15 min break now to write this.

Basically, a new prospective buyer "may buy" the company if they can replace old sales team with south-east-asian call centre and replace editorial with AI content. Derp, lol.

Sounds like an awful idea to me but I'm stuck by law and boss' orders to hum...

Wise as an Old Qrow

Since fanfiction.net is currently experiencing an outage, I'll update the chapter here. It is set to public so if you have any friends who want to see it, they won't need to support or login to do so. Hopefully, the site will be fixed soonish.

Some good news

Sharing some good news here as it'll hopefully mean less reasons for further disruption. My mother's tests results have come back as NOT bowel cancer. Huge relief. They don't know what it is yet, and it may still mean treatment, but it's good to know it isn't that.

I know I'm behind on my commitment for the $10+ patrons as well - I'll be trying to get something soon, but things have obviously been stressful here.

No Update June 10th

Just a quick email to warn no update today. it's been one of those days I warned would be exceptionally busy, capped off with the raw news that my cancer-surviving mother has been found positive for another cancer - and it could be bowel cancer.

If so, her life expectancy will be short given she's already been through it all before.

As a result, I'm spending today with her and can't write anything.

No update today - 16th May

This is an announcement of no update today as I've been in 3hr crisis meeting today, followed by 2 hrs addressing staff to try and ease their concerns. Have just gotten home and been invited (demanded) to attend a dinner with the business owners, which will basically be several more horus of a meeting to discuss everything that happened today but in my personal time and not being paid for it.

Hey all.

Just a notice to say that today's update has to be postponed. I went in for a biopsy at 10am (such was my appoitment time anyway) and was told it'd be quick over and done with and I could go home to work as normal. It's just a precautionary thing given my family having a history with cancer. No need to immediately worry.

Update Status

Hey all, so just keeping you all in the picture as to my updates.

There will be no update tomorrow and was not one on Tuesday.

This is due to my mother going into hospital with a heart attack monday morning (which I briefly mentioned in ARC Corp). What should have been a routine and easily solved problem has turned worse due to a cavalcade of errors on the part of the hospital and now the situaiton is worse.

Hey all. This is just a quick notice that my fanfiction won't be updating Feb 17th-18th (the weekend of this message) as I'm taking the weekend off to rest and recover. I've been sick all week but powered on hoping that distracting myself and forcing myself to work would help me get better. To the surprise of probably no one, that hasn't been the case. Derp.

I'll be trying to rectify that this weekend by resting properly.

No Update Today (Sat 22nd July)

I'm going into hospital today to try and regain the appointment cancelled this week; I could be there for hours at the very least while they see if they can find time or space to fit me in, so, yeah, I won't be able to write anything. There's even a chance that after hours of waiting they won't find said time. 

I'm really sorry about that but I can't just not go in or my care could be pushed back even further.  

Too sick to write today

Message as it shows; my sickness is not exactly worse - maybe even a little better - but "better" in this case means 3 hours of sleep, hopped up on medicine, and shivering and shaking. I can't really concentrate enough to write today but am tentatively hopeful I will be recovered by tomorrow

Dusty Old Qrow - 5 (Feb) - and Sunday update

Hey all. Here's the 5th chapter of Dusty Old Qrow, which, to remind people, will become a live and free story on ff.net once one of my existing ones end. 

Also a brief notice that there will be no story Sunday 12th Feb due to family commitments I have to attend to. Normal update schedule will continue after that. ROAD ACCIDENT - NO UPDATE TODAY

As you can see from the above I won't be able to write today as I've been hit by another car who skidded on ice. I was sent into a ditch as a result. I'm too busy arranging recovery and doing accident reports and insurance, etc, and won't be able to update ARC Corp.

I am shaken but okay. It was crazy hard to climb out the car. 

NaNoWriMo

I thought it might be good to talk about NaNoWriMo this month - the challenge that sees people try to write 50,000 words in one month to jumpstart their writing careers.

I look here at how valuable it is, how it might be more use as a litmus test for if you want to commit to a writing career, and how I've gone about planning the story I have chosen to try and write during NaNoWriMo.

Writing Article September - Editing and Rewriting

The least entertaining part of writing is having to edit your work, and it's even worse when a portion of it - small or large - needs rewriting. I look here into the importance of editing, but also some tips and tricks for spotting when you need to re-write rather than try to cram something in.

It's not fun but sometimes it has to be done.

They're more immediately accessible to the average reader than traditional fantasy because they happen in our world and with conflicts everyone is familiar with.
