Vote Time - White Sheep
Added 2017-09-20 09:54:41 +0000 UTCSo guys, I have an issue I'd appreciate your input on. As people know, the current reward tier we are on is that I upload 5 chapters a week, and that means each story is updated every week. I've been doing this for a while now, and it's worked out. To a degree.
Recently, however, I released four stories on a different schedule. Basically, the Tuesday and Saturday slots have become stories where there are two for each day - and where they alternate in their updates.
This has allowed me to spend more time planning and plotting the stories, and I feel has led to them being genuinely better for it. Service with a Smile is particularly popular, and I think the others will be in time as well. Being able to take an extra week to write them lets me look over them more for mistakes or inconsistencies.
Now, I'm wondering if people would accept the same for White Sheep.
My intent is to keep Forged Destiny as an "every week" fic, and probably the same for my Sunday slot as well, but the weekday slots are tough because I still work 9-5 through the week.
Having an extra week to work on White Sheep would be good, and it would not mean "less stories" for you guys and girls. There would still be an update every Thursday, but there would be a NEW story put into that slot.
I don't yet know what that would be, but I might consider coming up with several ideas and putting it to a vote on here. Let you guys choose which you like the sound of.
Personally, I feel this might make the story better. Being the middle of the week, I don't get much time to plan White Sheep, and College Fool and I are constantly rushing to put ideas together with very little time to properly discuss them. Having two weeks for each chapter should elt us plan more and - I hope - create a better story.
For now, however, I wanted to address you all on this and see what you think. As such, I've put a poll below.
I also encourage people to comment if they'd like, but not to get into arguments about it if possible. If you genuinely feel you don't want this change, feel free to say it - and those that disagree, please don't send any hate towards them. I'm asking for honest opinions here.
So, here it is below (or above - who knows how polls work here).
Should White Sheep be moved to a two week rotation, and a new story be put into the alternating weeks?
Edit; there is an alternative option of sorts, that I pause this fic for a week (basically having a Thursday without an update), which might give me time to plan chapters ahead. This might mean that every 10 chapters or so, I have to have another break to plot ahead, however.
If you prefer that, it's an option - just vote for the "No" choice, but feel free to comment below.
It would be just like Forged Destiny - where you get a load of chapters as usual, then I take a week off to plan more once a "book" ends.

I would prefer "books" of White Sheep." However, I cannot disagree that the quality of your fortnight stories is higher- it is obvious that you are less stressed while writing them, and things flow better . So I wouldn't make too much of a fuss even though I voted in the "losing" side currently. Do what you think is best, I trust in you.

2017-09-21 18:08:44 +0000 UTCOKay guys and gals, it looks like we're pretty split - even if it favours the new idea more. For now, I've decided that I'll stick with things how they are, but we're going to compromise. In a few weeks, I will take that week off to plan ahead, and then I'll stick with it and see how that goes. If things don't improve, or it looks like the story is suffering more, then I'll reconsider and we will look at the other option. For now, though. Thanks for the input and words. I'll make it work. :)

2017-09-20 20:30:44 +0000 UTCPersonally I find the break every ten chapters or so to be the more appealing option. I'm not a super large fan of the two story rotation thing but I understand it's purpose so I accept it if it becomes the reality for this story.

2017-09-20 14:49:02 +0000 UTCI'm the type of person that can't even wait for my food to cool off before eating it. Having to wait two weeks for your stories is even more painful than the burn . I still voted yes for the two week gap mainly because it seems like that's what you want to do and this poll is just a polite way of asking if we would be ok with change.

2017-09-20 11:23:33 +0000 UTCPersonally if it improves the quality I would prefer the two week waiting time and have another story in the intermediary. Plus a new story opens up more potential enjoyable reading. Two weeks isn't even long for an update as far as fanfictions are concerned, most take a month or more to update a chapter so honestly two weeks isn't a problem at all, at least from my point of view.

2017-09-20 11:10:22 +0000 UTCJust so everyone knows, there IS an alternative of sorts. It is that i take a "one-time" break from WS - maybe of just one week (hopefully of just one), which i can use to plan chapters ahead from. That might then give me time to plan things in advance and get a hold of the plot. The problem is that right now, it's in an awkward spot - and might be for a while. This route might mean that every 10 chapters (as a rough guess), I need to take a chapter off in order to plan the "next" 10 chapters.

2017-09-20 10:57:34 +0000 UTCFor me, a large reason why I wanted to contribute to your Patreon income is because I wanted to get rid of the two week waits for a chapter. I'm not very attached to Captain Dragon or Service with a Smile just because I know that it's going to be a longer period of time between those chapters. Take the last chapter of Captain Dragon for example... I probably should be excited and anticipating the next one, but when I read the chapter it was Service with a Smile coming out next and so I said "meh". It's not that you don't do a good job, but it's more like a defense mechanism so I'm not losing it for two weeks in anticipation. These are just my two cents anyways.
