[Announcement]
Added 2022-09-14 17:49:10 +0000 UTCSo I unfortunately have some more bad news. :/
After finishing the assembly of the new computer and switching it on, I ran into a major problem. It wasn't outputting any signal whatsoever to the screen. And so in the hopes of pinpointing whatever is causing this issue, I've been switching out components.
I tried switching out the GPU. Still nothing.
I tried switching out the RAM. Still nothing.
Next, I'm going to try to remove the thermal paste (I just used the one that came with the CPU cooler, and in retrospect it did look kind of off) and apply some new paste. But in order to do that, I first need to get the right tools and compound to clean off the old paste. I bought some online, but that'll probably not arrive until next week.
So yeah, this means that I won't be able to render any images for a while longer.
Sorry, y'all. :(

Definitely try re-seating the CPU, I've had that cause problems before, or when there isn't enough mounting pressure from the heatsink.

2022-09-17 23:37:45 +0000 UTCThankfully, both the motherboard and the cooler are designed to "tell" when you've tightened the screws enough. This evening, I replaced the paste and have put the cooler back on, and it seems to have gone smoothly.

2022-09-15 19:22:18 +0000 UTCOne thing to watch for when replacing the paste is that with some motherboards, over tightening the CPU and cooler can squeeze things just enough the prevents the ram from being identified properly and thus no post. a YouTuber I watch that's has food videos is Jaystwocents. He has videos on things like this.

2022-09-15 18:00:13 +0000 UTCI don't think that is related to anything I'm talking about

2022-09-15 15:03:05 +0000 UTCIf Loneclaw bought a Windows installer (thumbstick), that'll be enough. I don't believe they intend on pirating an OS, lol Unless you meant using Linux, which is free.

2022-09-15 14:51:40 +0000 UTCThat's likely it then ^-^, skim through the book and see how they want the setup ^^ Like those below, the cooling has nearly nothing to do with the initial startup and display output. That'll change if your system gets hot enough to set off the safety systems that control your hardware

2022-09-15 14:48:12 +0000 UTCRight, tis is time for you to invest in Luck charms or somehow appease the spirit you have possibly offended, so they stop hexing you with misfortune. Good luck with the computer mate!

2022-09-15 11:53:54 +0000 UTCThe new Threadripper Pro CPUs are not supported by this Mainboard. You need to get a 32 Gb USB stick, format it to FAST32, and use the "Bios Flash" button on the back of the mainboard while the PC is shut down fully! You can do this without a GPU or CPU or any other plugged-in components. You can update the bios, while the PC is fully turned off and no signal is sent to the screen.

2022-09-15 11:44:12 +0000 UTCI think you have a misunderstanding about thermal paste. That would never be a reason for the PC to not display. I would look at the motherboard's manual to find which RAM slots the manual considers to be the best configuration if not filling all slots
Reeka Lina
2022-09-15 11:33:34 +0000 UTCI mean, I basically filled every single RAM slot with a stick of RAM, so placement shouldn't be an issue. As for the GPU... I actually placed it in the second slot. I figured that if I put it in the first slot it would be too close to the CPU cooling tower, and since all PCIe slots are x16 speed and since the manual for the motherboard didn't explicitly state that a GPU had to be in the first slot, I figured it was okay. Maybe it wasn't? >w>

2022-09-15 11:26:06 +0000 UTCYeah, I'll look into making a discord server somewhere down the line. Yes, when I powered up the PC the fans spun and continued to do so until I shut it down. I'm not sure what lights were on, but I got the Q-Code 00 on the display on the motherboard. However, until I've replaced the thermal paste and put the CPU cooler back in place, I'm not going to turn it back on.
Loneclaw
2022-09-15 11:15:31 +0000 UTCOh, and did you read the motherboard manual on which RAM is placed where, including which GPU slot? Most computers work in series, so it may not be reading your card, being placed somewhere else. (You can't stick it anywhere).
Metal Fox
2022-09-15 11:12:17 +0000 UTCYou need a discord so us veteran PC builders can help you better, man. When you power on the pc, do the fans spin? If they do, do they spin for 1 second or do they keep spinning? What lights are on at the Q-Code section of the board, and what color are they?

2022-09-15 10:51:52 +0000 UTCFor your first six questions: yes. No, there are no scratches on my circuit boards (at least none that I can see). Once I've managed to change the thermal paste and put the cooler back on, I'll see if it works. If it doesn't, I'll upload pics for help.

2022-09-15 10:27:26 +0000 UTCSorry, here's some common stuff to ask: -Is it all connected? -Is the power switch on? -Did you hit the power button? -Is the hdmi connected to the gpu and not the cpu? -Is there enough watts from your power supply? -After these, is your monitor on the correct input? -The most important final question. Is there any scratches on any of your circuit boards (even tiny across a circuit)? If it still doesn't, you may want to upload pics of your setup, so we may notice something ^-^ Assuming you don't have like a local geek squad, lol

2022-09-15 09:29:35 +0000 UTCRegarding PC issues, you for the big boi gpus are you certain that they are getting enough power? Have you tried only running one to get your BIOS updated? Make sure you don't have a dead GPU port on your MOBO
TheoV2
2022-09-15 02:07:23 +0000 UTCOof, you keep having worse PC issues than I have in getting upgrades. Your luck will change soon and you'll be back to making amazing stuff, I'm sure of it.

2022-09-15 00:39:09 +0000 UTChopefully u can get your pc working

2022-09-14 23:28:37 +0000 UTCI myself would just do a thermal pad instead lasts longer and can be reused if need be. As for gettinf the old past of most PC builders I see just use isopropl alcohol and a q tip

2022-09-14 20:14:19 +0000 UTCIt's not really something I can check now, since I removed the CPU cooler. I'll have to replace the paste first.

2022-09-14 19:43:45 +0000 UTCAlso there should be four LEDs for CPU/RAM/VGA/BOOT issues. Are any of them lit up?
1withU
2022-09-14 19:40:19 +0000 UTCMaybe try CMOS reset? Should be a button on the I/O panel of your mobo for that
1withU
2022-09-14 19:39:21 +0000 UTCIt just outputs 00, which I think is an "all-clear"
Loneclaw
2022-09-14 18:50:47 +0000 UTCLooks like it should be on the top-right next to the mobo’s power connectors.
1withU
2022-09-14 18:44:28 +0000 UTCYour motherboard should have a Q-code display, is that outputting anything? If it is, it should give you a better indication of what specifically isn’t working.
