Basically, the program I work with (Daz Studio) use human models as the base and from there morphs can be applied via sliders. The xeno girls are just human models with a bunch of morphs applied to them, as well as a couple of accessories and a special texture. Because of that, going in-between those characters is relatively easy. :3
