En's Weekly Thoughts:

I had a certain kind of rant about originality, and about creating art that's meant to instill new ideas instead of just being reactive or being created just to provoke. But I deleted it all because it sounded way too judgmental about people just living their lives however they want.

I think there's a certain part of me that's always been a little egotistical in that sense -- and maybe a lot of you can actually relate to this in some small way. There's a certain need I have to feel "unique" compared to my peers, but when I actually think about that aspect of myself I realize how stupid and selfish such a pursuit is. Because of course I don't want to feel like I'm "unique" (read: "better") than other people simply for the sake of -- that's just pointless arrogance. But I guess I do feel a little jaded from time to time when I see the priorities of other people and how small and petty they can sometimes be.

I have many creative projects on top of OTHER creative projects that I really want to finish before I become old and enfeebled and less agile, and it always scares me to think of how much time I squandered when I was younger on the silly things that I thought would ruin my entire life if I didn't address them then and there. Life is really uneven that way.
