En's Weekly Thoughts:

I had a conversation with my therapist last week where he was basically telling me, and not in a judgmental way, that a lot of the first drafts of what I work on are basically just me confronting for the first time a lot of the things I've dealt with in my life. I think that's kind of true for anybody in anything that they would pursue, whether creatively or just in general with their passions.

I think a lot about why I'm drawn to the subjects and topics that I'm usually drawn to, and I would hate to think that it's all in service of something deep within me that hasn't healed because it makes it feel like I'm just doing what's expected of me and that I can't truly be free from my upbringing or anything like that. Do you ever get that way when you're working on something? I suppose asking this in the context of people being here would be interesting because the subject would naturally turn to the things we find ourselves drawn to in terms of traits we find attractive. But I obviously don't mean it in such a limited way.

I kind of had this sense as I was editing videos yesterday that there is a part of me that really enjoys making shock value content on YouTube (if you know you know) specifically because it channels a certain need for acknowledgement where I can also disavow it just as quickly because it's not necessarily true to who I am. I can garner a certain amount of attention to me in a way that's unexpected, but people won't really know who I am. So, really, a lot of what I do online is either in opposition to or in accordance with how I see myself.

Wow, this got way too abstract and scattered for a weekly musing, so I'll leave it here. I really hope you're all doing well, and I hope you can look forward to some of the stuff I'm plugging away at. I'm working hard and I won't let y'all down.
