Yes! Apothecary Diaries is very good!! Its a Romance Drama but it is very entertaining. The main focus is Mao Mao being involved in the rear palace and brothels and solving mysteries and being interested in poisons. Looking forward to more!! :D

Edit after watching: to put it simply, Maomao doesn't want to be promoted because higher status means more attention from those who could order her to be killed at any time if she slips up. Plus the promotion means higher pay and that higher pay goes to her kidnappers. She's willing to work at the bottom rung just to spite the bastards who sold her.
