I'm going to be as vague as possible so not to give spoilers that letter was about Kaigaku doing something absolutely unforgivable.

2024-10-08 20:33:45 +0000 UTCSo, something I feel like you two might be interested in: It's added at the end of the manga chapter after the chapter's events, and isn't included in the anime, but the girl that said "he did it, he killed all of them!" was actually talking about the Demon, and not Himejima! Unfortunately, her phrasing, and how distraught she was at the time, mixed with the Demon's corpse having already burned away, made it so that the only one the other people saw was Himejima. At this time, where Himejima is older, and Tanjiro is going through his journey, she's aware of how people took her back then, and really regrets how she said things, and how she was too distraught to be clearer, and wishes she could apologize to him.
