Very late to this but the title being translated as “frieren the slayer” isn’t a mistranslation or a choice to use a different translation (well, technically it is) but it is context based. The phrase Sosou no Frieren has intentionally multiple wordplay like translations because she as a person and the show is a more complex thing than most. To demons, she is Frieren the Slayer. Its a context based translation
