The war started 9 years ago and there was no 86th district until then. So there may have been some prejudice but they lived among the alba as kids

Every group has a characterizing color and subraces, one of which is considered to be the "nobility" of the ethnic group. ALBA: color - silver/white. Subraces - Adularia, Alabaster, Celena (noblility) - Notable characters: Lena & Annette are Celena; Anju is part Adularia. AURATA: color - gold. Subraces - Heliodor/Beryl (nobility), Topaz - Notable characters - Kurena is part Topaz. AQUILA: color - black. Subraces - Eisen, Jet, Onyx (nobility) - Notable characters - Raiden is an Eisen; Shin and his brother Rei are part Onyx. CAERULEA: color - blue. Subraces - Celesta, Sapphira (nobility) - Notable characters - Anju is part Celesta; Daiya was a Sapphira. RUBELA: color - red. Subraces - Agate, Pyrope (nobility), Rubis, Spinel. - Notable characters - Kurena is part Agate; Haruto is a Rubis; Shin and his brother Rei are part Pyrope. VERIDIA: color - green. Subraces - Aventura, Emeraud, Jade. - Notable characters - Theo is a Jade. **Please note that no noble subrace is identified for the Veridia group. Viola: color - violet/purple. Subraces - Amethysta (nobility), Iola, Sirin. - Notable characters - None so far. FERRUGINEA: color - rust/brown. Subraces - Unknown - Notable characters - None so far. There are also several other races that are very rare. As this story takes place in a fictional content with parallels to IRL Germany and Europe, the rarer races would come from places similar to IRL East Asia and the Middle East. The races we know of so far are Deseria, Austra/Meridiana (Kujo was an Austra), and Orienta (Kaie was Orienta). Most of these rarer races can be identified by darker hair and darker skin tones.

2022-06-15 16:39:19 +0000 UTCAs Tunnel Rat said, the words on Anju's back are "whore's daughter". Her parents are both Alba but they had a distant ancestor of the Caerulea race. Where the Alba are characterized by the color silver or white, the Caerulea are characterized by the color blue. Anju inherited her blue eyes from their Caerulea ancestor, which marked her as an Eighy-Six. The other Eighty-Six were not kind to those of rarer races or those mixed with Alba or Imperial blood as Raiden said in an earlier episode. So they attacked her and carved those words on her back. Also, its not really explained bc they don't explain the races in the anime like they do in the light novels but "imperial blood" refers to the races of the nobility of the Empire of Giad, the empire that made the Legion. The noble class in Giad was mostly made up of Pyrope (subrace of the Rubela group, characterized by the color red) and Onyx (subrace of the Aquila group, characterized by the color black). Shin is a mix of these two races. The other character that they mentioned that also had imperial blood was Haruto who is at least part Rubis, another subrace of the Rubela group.

Anju say’s ‘him’, referring to Shin, whether Kurena would want to tell him of her feelings for him, which she then answers with the following scene afterward. Anju herself has the words ‘whore’s daughter’ on her back from being physically abused from other 86ers. As Raiden said, not all 86ers were saints and many took their anger out on people like Anju who is Alba. The reason as to why she’s in the 86th District is despite being full Alba, she inherited pale blue eyes from a distant ancestor which condemned her to being discriminated as an 86. And yes, Shin has Imperial blood. It was explained in episode 5 when we saw Lena as a kid and Rei saved her. It’s definitely one of the reasons as to why he was mistreated by other 86ers.
