You had Oberyn lose to Arthur in the melee. Oberyn and Jon did meet prior though, I think it was after he sang or won the melee, can't recall.. But they did have a polite and friendly conversation. Here you have Aemon being a bit of a douche based on an event that didn't actually happen.

A single great house feeling disgruntled or a possible second dance. And all those plans for marrying children are like 10-20 years in the future which does nothing for a present threat. I get it. You have Aemon having four wives and me saying it makes more sense for Aegon to marry one of those wives goes against those entire story plans. Doesn’t mean what I’m saying doesn’t make sense, after all, Aemon having that many wives give more reason for rebellion (via faith militant) than a broken bethrothal ever will. You do you, but I hope you at least a give a good reason and don’t have delusional characters. Way your talking bout Aegon seems he’s similar to Viserys 1 which no one wants to see. From your responses You have Aegon saying ‘break rules bad’ but ‘possible rebellion good’

2023-06-18 02:53:45 +0000 UTCLook, as I pointed out in previous chapters, Aegon tries to be a perfect prince and tries hard to follow the rules and not start unnecessary fights. Breaking the betrothal with Margaery would give them an enemy. Why risk it? Second, Aegon knows marrying Rhaenys with Aemon would fix the problem with Oberyn. It would tie their families together, and Rhaenys would never try to get her brother’s throne. Aegon can then arrange a betrothal between his firstborn with a future child of Aemon.

There’s NEVERR been a succession crisis in Westeros and the side with less dragons will win because once again, poison is more powerful. Sarcasm aside, when has everyone ever gotten what they wanted? Sure, Dany is attracted to Aemon but if she loves him after a week of tourney she ain’t love him. She’s infatuated. Aegon isn’t a rapist and I doubt she’d be unhappy with him after a while. You know there’s never in the history of Westeros been a rebellion against dragons except by dragons, besides the faith militant, right? Dragons literally take out any form of rebellion except by dragons, so the history says, so is it smart to gain more dragons for your faction or not? It doesn’t matter if aemon actually rebels or not, but why leave a knife pointed at your back and hoping aemon won’t stab him? That’s literally what your saying is okay for aegon to do by not strengthening his own position. And face it, even you don’t believe the tyrells are stronger than Dany and aemons dragons. Unless you think the tyrells will poison all of house Targaryen and take the iron throne, which is literally just stupid. Who exactly will they poison to further there standing? All the gold the tyrells have won’t buy enough faceless men for all of house Targaryen. It’s a moot point if aegon gets shirkyos, but that’s ONLY if he gets a large dragon.

Second, having a Dragon doesn’t guarantee anyone certain victory. If Aegon and everyone suddenly decide to do whatever they want and not care about everyone else thoughts, everyone will slowly become their enemy, and they will have another rebellion on their hand. House Tyrell would never let that humiliation slide as if it never happened. The likes of Olenna would pay all the gold they had just for payback. We all saw what happened to Joffrey, he was a King, yet he still died from Poison.

Making enemies with them simply will give them unnecessary trouble. Wars are expensive. They cost gold and everything. No house would simply allow themselves to be humiliated. Aegon breaking the betrothal does nothing but bring problems. Second, while they might have dragons, all it takes is a spoon of poison for Aegon or anyone else to die. Third, Aegon simply doesn’t see it as necessary to humiliate House Tyrell for no reason. Fourth, Aegon has more support than Aemon right now; Aemon has barely any allies in Westeros besides his family and his dragon.

I’m not a Jon hater or nothing but logically the crown prince of Westeros will want to be as powerful as possible when he ascends so trouble can’t be made. How will less trouble be made? By having more power. What Is more power? A dragon or an army? Once again, just looking for a reason why he won’t marry them that isn’t just straight up delusional. As aegon said, he’s only known Jon for two weeks. Will he really take the chance to let Jon consolidate all that power when he doesn’t even know or trust his motivations, even if he wants to?

I hope Ned speak to his vassals and robb to make clear that he doesn’t want a war in his name, that he did something wrong. He was ready to die and it would have been justified. Is a pretty light punishment and an opportunity to regain some of the honor he lost.

2023-06-15 07:55:37 +0000 UTCWith the thought process of both Oberyn and Olenna this once again proves that Ned’s reasoning and concern for Jon’s safety were legitimate and justified (Like I said before I’m not saying that what he did was right I’m saying that it’s understandable in a way). Also I’m disappointed that he’s being sent to the wall I wish his punishment could have been Rhaegar taking some of his kids or Benjen away from him to live in Kings Landing, if Rhaegar had done that I’m sure the northerners wouldn’t have been as livid as they were. But since Ned is being sent to the wall Jon and house Targaryen have basically lost the north’s allegiance and favor especially Robb who now feels betrayed and probably loathes Jon now and Arya is undoubtedly heartbroken. I just think that it would have been better if Ned got to keep his Place in Winterfell as the lord of house Stark and warden of the north and just simply had some of his children taken from him, the northerners would probably wouldn’t have taken it as badly if that was the case, plus just because Jon has his Dragon, Eagle, and Direwolf doesn’t guarantee victory and doesn’t make him invincible (Tywin made that perfectly clear). I also couldn’t help but feel a little bad for Arianne as well, though luck could be on her side if she’s lucky. Another thing that has always frustrated me is that even though Jon is true born and not base born people still call him a bastard even after it’s been proven that he isn’t, this happens in almost every story I’ve read about him. Hopefully people will come to acknowledge the fact that he’s true born. (No disrespect intended Drinor, if taken I apologize) I’m aware that my opinion on this subject isn’t a popular one but I’m sticking with it, we just have to agree to disagree.

Marrying the two eligible female dragonriders creates a pretty scary power block behind him. Honestly if she does ride shirkyos and Dany rides cannibal I have a hard time believing house Targaryen wouldn’t break the betrothal with house tyrell so aegon also marries a dragon rider. Realistically that would make more sense for the house- the crown prince marrying a dragonrider compared to marrying upjumped stewards. Having the second son with three dragons behind him and the crown prince with none would just be stupidity to the highest degree for Rhaegar if he wants to secure Aegon’s succession. Not saying Jon would rebel, but that doesn’t matter if half the realm rises even without Jon’s approval.
