Hi, as I anticipated I modified the bargain between Kai and Zervathi at the end of chapter 231. The deal was a bit too unbalanced against Kai give the circumstances of the negotiations. Now it's still ambivalent, but with greater possible rewards.
If you don't want to go reread, this is the main part, the rest are minor tweaks in the subsequent paragraphs:
“Fine, I shall sweeten the deal.” Zervathi counted on his dainty fingers. “I’ll ensure your safety out of this temple, and you may seek my help three times after. As long as your wishes don’t require more than a third of the power I’ve regained, I shall grant them. Take it or leave it, this is the best deal you’re going to get, child. You have my word.”

2. Book Release
I've also more exciting news! BOOK 1 of Elydes - A New Dawn (chapters 1-59) will be published in e-book, audiobook and paperback on June 11 . I cringe inside every time I imagine someone reading the rough version on RR I wrote almost a year ago. I’m glad I can share the final edited version beyond the first 5 chapters.

By boosting a "less useful" affinity, he has made it actually useful and I totallt except that he will start using space magic a lot in the near future. Obviously, why else would the author set it up like that if he wasnt gonna use it?

If he is able to grant any 3 wishes that will not require 3rd part of ragain energy, then why he can't contact Kai's family. He could sketch thier apperance and tell thier location / or send info mentaly. The criterium for finding a place where 4/5 distinct people gather should confirm almost 100% that it's them. Big hunter with young girl apprentice + two married peral hunters and hunters wife. Could tell town location and his home location even if vague should be enough. Now if its take into account that he needs to comunicate with god for it to grant any wish should be in scope of 1/3rd power without problem. So why Zervathi cant pass message?

I feel though these wishes are gonna be used for transportation then anything else. E.g. kai now has an easy way to the mainland whenever he wants now.

2024-05-13 13:08:51 +0000 UTCJust ignore the times when the space affinity has been useful then like giving Kai a warning something is teleporting. Also it's stated throughout the book the higher your affinity in space and the higher your mana the more you can do, so we won't see much of space until he's yellow grade at least as space is one of the mana hungriest affinities. And he accepted the deal because this is a divine being, he believed, could kill him with a snap of his elven fingers.

2024-05-13 12:34:07 +0000 UTCwhats a quest without giving us a shiny at the end, i mean he got a boost to an affinity he's useless with and doesn't do anything with and keeps secret because its so 'good' i dont understand why he accepted bargain in first place, his space affinity has been so irrelevant, it woulda made so much sense to take a risk like that for something relevant to his character.

The mana drained from Z is probably expelled into the rest of the hidden realm, which would explain how it can sustain so many yellow beasts. And some of that Mana ended up trickling into the ruins in the real world.

I would have expected Kai to bargain for help acquiring a 'green or blue' Space Skill; something he would not be able to acquire without a teacher/Master. Though I suppose that's still possible with the new bargain. Just have to use up one of his wishes. Such things take time to learn though... would have been perfect while he was trapped.

It makes it feel like he’ll get something more out of it. He wasn’t entirely screwed over. My only problem I have is the fact that Kai should have had a choice. He could have waited. Nothing said he had to choose at that exact time. It would make more sense if that was the only blessing Zervathi could bestow at the time so there were no choices to give but he said it is the best blessing he has. Who is Zervathi to decide which blessing is the best?

That way Kai will get some ancient civilization knowledge and a training arc. Like what else is he gonna do if not training with all the yellow tier threats and plants.
