i love how this led us to character build the twins more according to zodiacs as a guideline and gives me more ideas on how to flesh ariko and arashi out and learn more about japan’s educational system! definitely see a lot of them in aquarius like papa rin, cold looking on the outside softies on the inside!
there’s not always a need to go into so much detail but it’s just SOOOO SATISFYING most of the time if u love world building and keep adding new details to make things work along the way 😭😭 (famous last words until i fuck up some timelines along the way LOLLLLLL)

January 1st doesn’t matter at all and I’m kinda confused how that system works lol. But to be able to legally drive (16) and drink (21) you can’t do it until the actual day of your birth lol. So it kinda sucks to have a later birthday in the school year because all your friends in your grade are hitting the legal age to do things before you are lol

For us (and it slightly differs in region in America) the cutoff is September 1st, which is the beginning of the school year. My little sister was born August 29th and a neighbor’s kid was born September of the same year. But even though they’re only days apart they’re in different grades because of the cutoff. My sister is the youngest in her grade and the neighbor is one of the oldest in hers.

(unless we go with the theory that nao started school later, making him closer in age to the 3rd years than the 1st years) because if the school year is april-march, then kaien would have his birthday in november before the twins have theirs in february. and i feel kaien and nao being closer in age would line up with the timeline of kagehina thinking about starting a family after nao's birth, while the twins were kinda a surprise for osasunakomo. i might be overthinking this, but i find the year-long japanese school year really interesting because of how different the school year is where i'm from (the u.s.) so i've done a lot of research into it. anyways, i'll shut up now.😶

Also, I am a kindergarten teacher in Germany and kids enter school when they turn 6 until oct within their first year of school (we start during summer). Of course there are exception. If a child's development is good enough they can enter school early (but also need to turn 6 until a certain point). Or stay in kindergarten longer if needed. Guess it also depends on how the country counts age.
