Dev Update #40

I know I just put out a dev update a few days ago, but I have bad news that needs to be addressed. I just got scheduled for another sinus surgery on the 13th of Feb(for chronic sinusitis of the right maxillary sinus). I knew this might be coming, but I wasn't sure. They called me today and scheduled it. The sad news is I won't be able to finish the new update and the testing and all that in less than two weeks. So the update will be delayed a little bit. The doctor said they are not going to do the whole septoplasty or whatever they did with sawing the bone down or whatever this time. So recovery time will be faster, he said. I don't know how much of a delay this will be but hopefully not be that long. It's a shame I can't finish before the surgery. I don't want to rush the last part and be unhappy with it. And to be honest, I'm a little pissed I have to get this surgery again or why my one right maxillary sinus keeps getting all infected and messed up. I think it all stemmed from when I got my wisdom tooth taken out, which is right below that sinus cavity. I started getting problems shortly after that. I've told both the dentist and ENT about it, and they both say it's possibly the reason, but they're not sure. I have another appointment in a week with the ENT, and I going to talk to him about it again and hopefully get some answers. If not, I'm going to another ENT after the surgery is done. Anyways, I feel like I'm ranting, so I'll stop. I'm just a little pissed right now. Sorry about the bad news, guys.

I think it was during a root canal on the upper tooth, but I couldn't say for sure and I can't contact them easily to find out (they're currently in a hospital for unrelated reasons). CT scans can indeed find foreign objects like that easier, but it might take multiple checks. I 'think' (I'm not a medical expert) that it takes different kinds of dye to find different things. But essentially, yes. The tip of a tool broke off and no one noticed because it was a tiny, little piece no larger than a pixel.

2023-01-30 18:14:00 +0000 UTCIt had broken off when they removed a tooth or when they had some other procedure? They did do an x-ray and a ct scan already, but I read certain problems won't always show up on those scans, and there's a special kind of CT scan that will show the roots of the teeth or something. I don't know.

Feeling like diagnoses are off is one of the worst things with medical issues, in my opinion (I have kidney failure, and weird problems with no clear treatments are the absolute worst). Take care of yourself and don't let outside concerns add to the stress! Everything/one will be waiting here for you when you get back on your feet! I hope you get some quality care!

Can't update if you're dead, so take care of yourself. :) Side note, my sister had a similar problem a decade or so back- turns out they left a little tiny, nearly microscopic piece of plastic in there that had broken off the top of... something. I forget what. That was causing all sorts of infections. Not sure (at all) if your problem is the same, but it could be.
