So glad you picked this one to watch. I remember going to the theaters to see this when it first came out and as people have said before this is one of the best Star Trek movies lol. When Alan Rickman says that line for real, it makes me tear up every time. Thanks again for watching this.

2026-03-01 17:10:05 +0000 UTCWhat I'll say is, and agree with birth you and Rhiannon, is that it's a simple film, feel good and short, so when you need a giggle you can just flip it on. Also, Alan Rickman is bonkers in this, such a great character, especially with the native accent because they dig at him for it. As you've never seen Star Trek, the sheer number of call-back to scifi TV are numerous. There is ALWAYS a random guy who dies each episode, the Captain always get his shirt off (the height of sexy 60s TV) women mostly played air heads, until Uhurha (first interracial kiss on TV!), and SO many other features, I'm sure others might add to them. Fantastic reaction, you always catch on so quickly :)

So many amazing comedic actors - and having Sigourney Weaver who was best known at the time for playing a major bad ass in the Alien movies was so great. Believe it or not, Toy Story is from all the way back in 1995 - I always forget it's over 30 years old at this point - so it was before this movie. Also, they do a good job of helping people figure out the context about Guy being a background actor whose main job is just to die, but if you look up Star Trek Red Shirts - it's a whole thing. A lot of people consider this an unofficial Star Trek movie - it's definitely a love letter to the shows and the fans.
