I want someone to watch the documentary Marjoe so badly. It was made in the 70s about a guy who had been a child preacher on the Pentecostal revival circuit and as an adult wanted to expose the corruption, so he returned to preaching and brought a documentary crew along to film it all. It’s amazinnnnng

The start of the worst Thor films I personally can’t stand ragnarok cause they stole hulks story and added Thor for no reason made korg lame as hell meek is just a bug. no warbound no silver surfer vs hulk. God that movie makes me mad.

Almost forgot the Documentary category: Baraka (1993) and Samsara (2012) ***both visually stunning, filmed across 6 continents, dozens of countries, gorgeous locations which tell the story of humanity on our magnificent planet.*** I FIGURE THESE MOVIES PROBABLY CAN'T WIN A POLL, BUT WISHFUL THINKING...PLUS IM ADDING THEM HERE IN CASE ANYONE IS SEEKING A REALLY SPECIAL, BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE PEACEFUL EXPERIENCE. Each film is 2 hours of jaw dropping visual journey set to a haunting score. If you watch them, it's really fun to search online (there's a website for each film) the list of destinations in the order they appear -- because there's not one word of dialogue or text in either film. I cannot recommended these films highly enough -- and I'd LOVE to hear anyone's thoughts after seeing either or both. THESE FILMS ARE A BALM TO THE SOUL IN THESE DARK TIMES. Much love and light to everyone. 🙏❤😇

Thriller: Still sticking with Memento. Adding Missing (2023).
Sci-fi: The Fly (Jeff Goldblum), The Thing (1982), Terminator.

For animated, I saw Epic: the Musical was on the list last time. As an anime fan especially, I think you'd like it since its creator said they wanted to make a musical based on The Odyssey (which has a film version out soon, btw) that was inspired by anime and video games. It was completely crowd-sourced through social media and ended up with such a following that animators online independently started to make animatics for single songs. By the time the final saga was complete the cast was able to livestream it from Ithaca in Greece, on Christmas Eve, with 200K people watching. It's all available on YouTube, either full cuts of different animatics put together, or a million different playlists of favorites. It's a little over 2h total AND the creator, Jorge Rivera-Herrans, really wants people to have access to it because it was community made, so you should be able to watch it straight through without having to edit out music or cut too much for YouTube because he has... whatever open licensing makes it so Youtube can't ding you for it.

Oh wow, The Fifth Element used to be my guilty pleasure movie when I still thought I should feel guilty for liking stuff! If you end up enjoying that, I recommend other movies by Luc Besson, especially Leon: the Professional.

For comedy: here to support all the Bridesmaids comments, also Crazy Stupid Love
Another Korean film from the man who directed Parasite: The Host
Some Tarantino directed/involved movies: Death Proof, Jackie Brown
Must Watches: All of Us Strangers, Garden State (best soundtrack of all time), Truman Show, Moonlight, Challengers, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, The Fifth Element (!!!!!!! You would absolutely love this one)
For miniseries: The Night Of (has John Turturro and Riz Ahmed and is criminally underrated)

If you can find a movie called Retreat with Cillian Murphy and Thandiwe Newton i highly recommend it. It's a small indie psychological thriller that's an absolute hidden gem. I think more people have seen it now and it might be easier to find since Oppenheimer success made people more interested in Cillian. Don't read anything about it. And ignore the middling ratings if you Google it. Just watch it. Simple but really well done with 3 brilliant performances

For sci-fi/thriller both blade runners if you haven’t seen them.
For drama and period movies there will be blood is amazing.
Comedy is harder idk the last true comedy that I watched and actually laughed.
Animated so many choices but off top I think the wild robot was dope
